Digging deep for this flag! This is the Green Mountain Boys Flag, for the fighting men of Vermont that captured Ft Ticonderoga in the early days of the American Revolution. It's also the state that my wife went to school (a proud St Michael's alum, fun fact- she later found her own Saint named Michael to marry!).

After the victory at Ticonderoga, Henry Knox came from Boston to get the cannons that were there and bring them back to aid the colonists in freeing Boston. On the trek from Ticonderoga to Boston, it is said they used our very own Randall cattle to assist moving the cannons through the rougher terrains when horses weren't sufficient.

Although the exact path isn't known, it is thought the cannons would have passed through the Brookfields and Spencer- towns very close to us, so there would be a very slim chance that in recognition of this, this flag could have flown outside our house at that time. Another fun fact, there is at least one monument that I know of in Spencer dedicated to this trek right outside our favorite Mexican restaurant, .
