River Rock Farm

A small, Massachusetts family farm providing the best beef in Boston. Our cattle are raised in pastures, rather than in feedlots.

At River Rock Farm, we raise beef cattle and sell USDA inspected, natural, dry aged beef to retail customers and restaurants. We raise livestock in ways that promote their health and well-being, as well as that of our customers. Feeding animals in pastures, with trees for shade and protection from the elements, room to roam so that the cattle can spread out, short grass for keeping the livestock c

ool in the summer, and fresh water, virtually eliminates disease problems in the herd. We do not use artificial growth hormones, growth stimulants, or artificial or antibiotic feed additives. Our beef is available year-round at the farm and through our home and office delivery service, providing service via our own trucks to the Boston-area, Northampton/Amherst area, and many other areas in Massachusetts. During the spring, summer, and fall, you can find us at Massachusetts farmers' markets.

So, let's just get the elephant in the room out of the way, yes.... I'm super Dad and my children only ever look at me like this. It's pure bliss..... Always.

But that aside, I can't tell you how often I go back to look at these pictures.... Only taken a week ago, and it took us a whole 16 minutes.... And yes it was fairly impromptu, but it was part of my father's day present, and I just couldn't be happier about it. I go back and look at least once a day..... Can't wait for the prints.

We are so, so sad to lose our incredibly reliable, dedicated and thoughtful farm manager, Jake Allaband, after "a life time" here at River Rock. But, our selfishness aside, we couldn't be more excited or happy to see Jake doing his thing! He has branched out and followed his heart and passion and officially started his own business, Forest Road Apiary

Not only is it the best honey you've ever tasted, it is done with such love, appreciation and the same dedication we have known to be Jake's signature way. Jake's honey is made with painstaking attention to detail, a real eye for the bees and their needs, and many a swollen or***ce. Did I mention I think he's allergic to the buggers!?! You'll be hard pressed to support anyone better.
You'll be lucky to find his products abound, but certainly at one of our signature markets, Jake and the Forest Road Apiary will be at the Hingham Farmers Market this year, and what a welcome addition they'll be!

We already miss Jake's whimsical ways and his clever, thoughtful approach to work and life, but we are more excited to see all the good things he is going to do for the bees, the people and himself going forward. Likely in that order.
Check him, his bees and his wonderful honey out, people!!! We couldn't give a higher recommendation ~

After talking with the girls about what’s going on in Ukraine, they promptly gathered all of their books and dolls to mail to the Ukrainian kids who had to leave their things behind. They later agreed that it would probably be better to host a fundraiser and donate the money to an organization helping the Ukrainian refugees. is helping Ukrainian moms and kids with shelter and relocation. They are also helping bring basic necessities and medical supplies into cities under siege.

Old friends, new spot!!

This wonderful, wondrous tag team duo, Pete and Christina have shared more food journeys than most of us can imagine.... And now they have their very own joint, ready to make it nice just for you!!! We couldn't be more excited for them.

The long time face and front of Bistro Les Gras in Northampton, this Chef and Pastry Chef couple have an incredible following and reputation. We are super excited to see what they will do with their own vision.... But having had a sneak peek at what they do with our beef, it's sure to make some yum face.

Check out these love birds in Easthampton Ma, making katsu Sammies, eggplant delights and so much more.

So, so thrilled to have their eats back on the street.

Hanging with some long time friends, and long time CSA members at their lake house, right up the road from the farm. What a treat. Thanks for the hospitality and invitation and Jon!! So happy for you guys and your little paradise.... And so, so jealous, too!!! Love it ~

We had a team efforts to charcoal a couple 'Family Style Sirloins' that came out swimmingly.... As did all the kids ~

Hot hot hot out there. Following a few of these littles around and we are all grateful for these automated waterers. Keeping the water fresh, clean and cool, we are lucky to have such a great system running throughout the pastures.
