We have our first dahlia of the season!

Normally I wouldn’t let them bloom this early but these cuttings were already large when I planted them out - and it’s a very welcome sight. Hello to Lee’s Swiss Miss 💓

How I pinch my dahlias!

Do you have to pinch? No, but it gives you better stems to work with when cutting, more central stems (more flowers), and helps with the stability of these large plants later on.

We’ve got a few more to go this week, but I want to take some time to thank all of our Spring Flower Club members for their support this season. You all are the reason we are able to grow these beauties - they are such a large investment in the fall and winter and by purchasing ahead it really helps us keep going during those months. Many of you return year after year and I couldn’t be more grateful. I hope these 6 weeks have brought you so much joy! Thank you for embracing seasonal, local flowers 💐

Tubers tubers tubers! I’ve been busy planting away at home this week. With over 1000 dahlias going in this season we have really maxed our space at home, and will be switching gears to planting out at the field this coming weekend. Having dahlias in 2 locations is definitely a logistical challenge for us but I know it will be worth it come fall.

The big dahlia planting has begun!

I’ve been getting cuttings in the ground at home (we’ve had sooo much rain and standing water this weekend that I’m waiting a bit longer to plant our tubers). Next weekend I’ll focus on the tubers headed to the new field. I can’t wait to see our favorites and many new cultivars bloom this season.
