In the middle of catching the baby roosters, the boys thought they’d take a break and pet a sheep… they said not today 😂

This rock hard, overgrown hoof needed a lot of work. He had a big chip, thrush, and was very out of balance. He needed a systematic clean up and considerate trim.

Clean up and trim on a hoof with a toe crack. This horse got a set of octos, which are held on with super glue! He does a a lot of hard trail miles when his owners take him camping. The shoes can be reset multiple times (this was their third reset!).

Follow up trim on the horse I posted at the beginning of May with pics from the May trim and pics from this trim at the end of the video so you can appreciate how much progress he’s made. My priority with this horse has been to develop the back of the foot. He’s filled in sole material and almost completely grown out the large toe crack as well because he is using his foot in a mechanically sound way now. Diet and exercise have not been overlooked either. It’s amazing what nature can do when you give it a helping hand. Trim/hoof mechanics matter. Rehab trims might look odd sometimes, but this is a good example of why we don’t use a one trim fits all methodology.
