UPDATE FROM THE FARM OF HOPE:
The biggest update: Well, the 'little 91-year-old lady' is still part of the farm! She's been with us for 19 months now. Unbelievable. When we took my stepmom in March of 2021, hospice thought she would only be with us for a few months. Apparently, farm life has done her well! She will be 92 years young next month.
Her Alzheimers Dementia is progressing for sure. It is a horrible disease to have/watch. More and more of her slip away every month. She came to us weak, but able to feed herself, toilet, walk, and carry on pretty ok conversations. Now she is unable to walk/stand, use the toilet, or feed herself and most of her language does not make sense. She is TIRED- but still loving and even funny at times.
We are grateful we have this big ol' farm if only for this purpose- to have the room to care for mom.
