My phone has been ringing non stop with people looking for standard egg laying chickens. I do not breed standard egg layers. If you're looking for a place to buy this type of poultry I recommend this farm. It is the place where we used to buy egg layers for our farm stand. It's a pretty good drive into PA but it's worth it. You can walk out of there with several different types of chicks, equipment, feed, and started pullets. The family who runs it is amazing to work with. Pin their post. They update it regularly throughout spring.

2025 UPDATE
WELCOME to FREEHLING FARMS: Policies and Info
Hello everyone!
As I'm sure you are aware, this year is presenting some challenges in the chicken world. We've had to make some changes. Please read below to find out more about our processes, us, the farm, rooster back guarantee, rooster round ups, policies, etc.
We have made the difficult decision this year to not order spring chicks. We will still be taking reservations for meat chicks and meat turkeys. We are committed to continuing to increase the number of breeds we offer as started pullets, please see the expected schedule below!
PROCESSES:
CHICK SALES: We will not have laying breed chicks this year.
BROILER SALES: We will get fast growing Cornish cross monthly. We do reservations for them, so we can get the exact right amount.
Please see our broiler post here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1546274zzr/
STARTED PULLET SALES: Started Pullets are one of our most popular birds, they are delivered to us when they are approximately 16 weeks old - just a few weeks before they are ready to lay. They are mareks vaccinated. The speciality breeds listed below are being raised for us by a network of local growers. They will be sold 1st-come-1st-served during open hours and appointments as detailed in the posts when they are available. This year's challenges have created supply chain issues with our usual supplier of Red S*x Links and Blue Eggers.
We are taking reservations for Red S*x Link started pullets from our bulk supplier, please see this post for more details: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18iNVvb8v7/
We are continuing to search for other suppliers, and are having local farms raise us other breeds of started pullets.
BELOW BREEDS OF STARTED PULLETS are being raised for us locally, and will be for sale FIRST COME FIRST SERVED (no reservations). They are Mareks vaccinated, and NOT beak trimmed. Prices are yet to be determined. We'll post details, including pricing, estimated availability, and pickup days closer to their arrival date).

ABOUT US:
Roger and Chris have known each other for their whole lives. Chris grew up just a mile down the road, and our grandparents were best friends. We've been together for 18 years, and have two little chicka's of our own. Chris’s sister Jen has been helping us extensively with the business since early 2020. Jen just added a baby boy to her family.
ABOUT THE FARM:
The farm has been in Roger's family for at least 145 years, dairy for the last 75+. We started hatching red s*x links in 2011. As demand grew, we expanded to breed and hatch more breeds.
In 2023, we decided to take a break from the breeding flocks, but we hope the future will allow us the free time to pick it back up. We have bred and hatched red s*x links, black stars, olive eggers, pure Ameraucana, Polish, mille Fleur D'Uccle, cream legbar, blue laced red Wyandotte, sebrights, and banty cochin (some frizzle), gold laced wyandotte, turken, and more.
We also sell all of the supplies needed to raise poultry: feeders, waterers, starter feed, starter grit, grower grit, pine shavings, brooder tubs, heat lamps, heat bulbs, heat plates (safer than lamps), thermometers. We even do a few varieties of starter kit, containing all the supplies you need for the first few weeks.
We keep an updated list of what's coming on every post. Check back often, as we frequently add more breeds---sometimes at the last minute.
ABOUT OUR ROOSTER BACK GUARANTEE:
We have a rooster back guarantee on s*xed poultry sold on our farm. If we sell you a bird as a female, and it turns out to be a male, you can bring it back with your receipt during our regular hours (or by appointment) for a refund, or exchange it for another chick (depending on availability). You absolutely MUST HAVE YOUR RECEIPT. No exceptions.
S*xing is only 90% accurate for most breeds, so unfortunately accidental roosters do happen. If you don't want to risk it, stick with one of our s*x linked breeds: red s*x links, black stars, or cream legbar. S*xing is 99% accurate for them.
ABOUT OUR ROOSTER ROUND-UPS:
We plan to have rooster round-up events in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Please note, we are working on planning our next Rooster Roundup, but we are also keeping an eye on the spread of avian influenza. We will post and create an event as soon as we know when we will be able to have one.
During the event, you can bring us any mature (4+ months old), healthy, unwanted poultry (roosters, hens, turkey, ducks, etc---doesn't matter where you purchased them) and exchange them for a free s*x link chick, or $1 off another purchase.
ABOUT CHICK CARE:
Copies of our chick care guides are available in our shop. They will be stapled to your receipt at checkout.
Please read over it, even if you've raised chicks before.
Something to keep in mind: Many folks have gotten 2-3 week old chicks (often on clearance) from farm stores in the past, and attempt to treat day old baby chicks the same way. Their intentions are good, but freshly hatched chicks are more fragile, and have different temperature requirements than the older chicks sold at most farm stores. Just like newborn humans require more vigilant care than toddlers, baby chicks need more TLC than two week olds.
If you already have a brooder at home, make sure it's ready and warm before you come. If you are purchasing a brooder here, leave the chicks in their closed cardboard box until the brooder is warm. Either way, resist the temptation of opening the box until they're ready to go into the brooder. They can easily get chilled during the ride home if the box is opened.
ABOUT OUR POLICIES:
Unfortunately over the years, we've had to make some unpleasant policies. Sorry everyone, but a few bad eggs have made it this way 😔
Sorry, no checks. We prefer cash, but can do PayPal if needed.
We aim to sell healthy, active birds. Unfortunately, once birds leave our farm, their care is out of our control. Because of that we can not offer refunds or exchanges for deceased birds. We're happy to help troubleshoot, to see what went wrong. Most commonly it's because their temperature was too hot or too cold, dehydration from cold or unpleasant tasting water, stress from the journey home or impaction from eating improper bedding or food.
For biosecurity reasons, we ask that you not handle the birds that are for sale. We're happy to hold them for you to look over.
We'll post updates on our page as we add more. Remember, most sales are first come first served. We don't take reservations unless it is clearly stated.

ROOSTER BACK GUARANTEE!!
Did you know?? Freehling Farms is one of the few places to offer a rooster-back guarantee. If you purchase s*xed chicks off us, and one winds up an accidental rooster, you can bring him back WITH YOUR RECEIPT for a refund or exchange.
Or, if you purchase straight run chicks, purchase chicks elsewhere, or lose your receipt, you can bring them to our rooster Roundup events
Please note, we are working on planning our next Rooster Roundup, but we are also keeping an eye on the spread of avian influenza. We will post as soon as we know when we will be able to have one.
