A new season. 💜

This past week felt like one of those weeks where summer and fall seem to meet.

School started, which means our evenings now include washing heifers after school and work as we prepare for the Minnesota State Fair. We had a BIG beef restock, finally started trialing our long-awaited cooking tallow, and have been soaking in some beautiful sunrises and sunsets as the days slowly get shorter.

And this morning? Things are starting just a little slower.

Rylan is in the kitchen making coffee cake while we catch up on computer work and prepare for another busy week—shipping orders, moving cattle to new pastures, filling orders, and ending the week back in the show ring.

In the middle of all the busy, Sunday mornings are a good reminder to stop and be thankful for what fills our days—the work, the opportunities, the people beside us, and the beauty God puts right in front of us.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Back home. 💜

After a full couple of days at the Iowa State Fair, we’re home with a lot of memories to be thankful for—and were greeted this morning with a pretty beautiful reminder of why we love where we live.

Early fall calving has begun, the mornings are starting to feel a little different, and there’s something special about watching a new calf beside its mama with an Iowa sunrise in the background. 🌅🐮

There is plenty waiting for us as we get back into our regular routine, but this morning we’re simply thankful.

Over the past two days, I had the opportunity to share two parts of the Purple Ribbon Beef | Premium Dry Aged Beef 🥩story—from using more of the animal through products like beef tallow to the journey of opening our farm store.

I also enjoyed joining The Big Show for a Farmer Chat in the Animal Learning Center. Thank you for giving us another opportunity to talk about agriculture and share a little more of our family’s story!

Meanwhile, Grandma and Grandpa were doing what they love—giving their time and helping with the 4-H Beef Show. It was a fitting reminder that agriculture is about more than the products we raise. It is also about serving others, sharing what we’ve learned and supporting the next generation.

Thank you to the Iowa State Fair and Choose Iowa for giving us the opportunity to share our story—and thank you to each of you who continues to be part of it.

What a week. 💜

From Showdown to the FFA show at the Iowa State Fair, the Open Show, farmers market, chores, rain and everything in between—it’s been one of those weeks where we’ve had a lot of irons in the fire.

Today we’re catching up on the farm, packing orders and getting ready to head back to the State Fair. Dad will be helping with the 4-H show, and I’ll be there presenting Monday and Tuesday before we finally settle back into our regular schedule later this week.

Last night, after another busy day, we were greeted by this beautiful rainbow over the farm. And on the walk back to the house, the wildflowers were too pretty not to stop and notice. 🌈🌸

Sometimes the reminder to slow down and appreciate what’s right in front of us comes at just the right time.

Thankful for the rain, thankful for a busy season, and especially thankful for all of you who continue to support our family farm through it all.
