We have numerous registered idaho pasture pigs available. We have breeders, feeders and some that are fed out. Let me know what you are interested in. The meat from these pigs is truly remarkable and is noticeably different from grocery store pork. We have had nothing but compliments. We typicaĺly feed one pound a day per month of age and
then 4 pounds a day from 4 months old. We also provide access to pasture or hay. Pigs will reach butcher weight in about ten months. Bulk feed typically goes for around 20 bucks for 100lbs. Call text or email with any questions. You will not be disappointed with these pigs.
We have one litter ready to go now, one litter ready in two weeks and another ready in a month.

It has been another summer with less than average rain. This of course means that grass and browse doesn't grow as fast as the goats would like. So, when we move them to a new paddock we sometimes cut a tree down for them to enjoy. We want to thin our woods a little anyway and the goats enjoy the treat. Didn't take them long to finish this one off!

During the hot summer months it is imperative that pigs have a way to stay cool. Without a wallow or a shady area where they can dig down into the ground they will suffer and it could be fatal to them. As you can see in the picture they love getting sprayed with cool water. We have had a sow get through a fence and she was not able to get back through to her water and when I found her several hours later she had almost succumbed to the heat. I know of breeders that put a boar in with a sow on a hot day and lost the boar. So, be sure they have a way to stay cool as the temp goes into the 70's and above.

I often have people ask me, what is the Idaho Pasture Pig? Well, it is a breed of pig developed in the early 2000's which is comprised of the duroc, old Berkshire and kune kune breeds. They are excellent docile mothers and will let you be near them while farrowing. They have upturned snouts which allow for grazing and their diet can consist of approximately 90 percent grass and legumes. They rarely root. They will feed out to approximately 250lbs in 10 months. They are friendly..... and the list goes on and on. They were developed to be and basically are the perfect pig for the family wanting to raise their own pork. Contact us today to get on our list as we have three sows that are due in the next three months.

Picked a new buck to sire our herd for the next year. We decided to go with a registered boar this year in hopes that our kids (goats and actual) will be more competitive at the fair next year. Also we should get bigger kids to increase profits when we sale. Lillie decided to name him Clyde. I think he looks pretty good and it didn't take long for our girls to welcome him when we got him home.

We feed our pigs a feed mix where every ton is made up of 1100 lbs corn, 400lbs soybean meal, and 400lbs distillers grain along with 100lbs minerals. We get our food from foster feed in bakersfield mo which sources all its food from local producers. Our pigs get 1lb a day per month of age and then after 4 months they get 4lbs a day till they are ready which is usually about 10 months. This mix is what a lot of breeders of this pig use as it has been used for years by some of the original breeders of the pig. They are fed minerals at a higher rate than normal because so much of their diet comes from grass. Contact us today to see what we have available.

Pigs came out to watch the baseball practice this evening or was it to enjoy some fresh grass.... Either way everyone had fun and only one pig was hit by a foul ball. A quick snort and he went back to grazing. If you keep their grain rations small they will graze most of the day.

Is pasture pork healthier? You don't have to search long to find that pasture pork has twice the amount of vitamin E and three times the amount vitamin D as pigs raised in confinement. There is also less saturated fats and more polyunsaturated fats than pigs raised in confinement. In addition some ( including me) will argue that pigs raised where they have better diet and exercise will taste better. Contact us today to see what we have available to try for yourself.
