🌎 FRIDAY — AROUND THE HORSE WORLD

There’s a lot going on this weekend.

Tomorrow is Travers Day at Saratoga.

Golden Tempo goes into the $1.25 million Travers after winning the Kentucky Derby and Belmont, with Renegade, Sea Strike, Napoleon Solo, The Puma, Baby Vino and the rest of the field lining up against him.

And the Travers is only part of the card. The Personal Ensign, Ballerina, Forego, H. Allen Jerkens and Lake Placid all go tomorrow too.

Tonight, Charles Town takes over.

Skippylongstocking is back in the $1 million Charles Town Classic trying to win it for the third time. Banishing, who won the race last year, is back again too.

The $750,000 Charles Town Oaks is also part of a loaded stakes night.

Outside of racing, the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions is underway at Lamplight in Illinois through Sunday, with national titles on the line across multiple divisions.

The Sedgefield Hunter Jumper Classic is also underway in North Carolina, along with plenty of other shows and competitions around the country.

And we know that still doesn’t cover everything.

We had a great time seeing everyone at the Crossroads farm swap!

We found new homes for AC and DC, and six of our runner ducklings. All homebreds, on to new adventures! We would love to see updates from those of you got our kiddos!

Safe to say she’s a pretty big fan of our hay from Farmers Direct… and honestly, so is everyone else around here. Horses, goats, and apparently Collies all approve. 😂

Nothing beats opening a fresh bale of quality hay.

🎷The quacks are getting louder 🎷

But with Fourteen little reasons to smile. 🦆

It’s been a busy week at Grand Hammock Ranch with 14 Runner ducklings hatching out. Watching these little ones pip, hatch, and take their first wobbly steps never gets old.

Here’s to healthy babies and a whole lot more quacking around the farm.

It’s incredible how quickly they change.

Envy (Doppelganger × Birdtastic by Birdstone) arrived as a big, leggy filly who seemed to be all ears, knees, and curiosity. Fast forward just three months, and she’s already growing into herself—filling out beautifully while somehow keeping those endless legs.

She’s bold, confident, and has never met a stranger. Watching her personality blossom has been every bit as exciting as watching her mature physically.

If this is what she looks like at three months, we can’t wait to see what she’ll look like as a yearling.

Some horses are meant to find you.

We first met Miracle Mike (Goldencents × Kiss The Flag) when he was just a two-year-old beginning his racing career. We followed him every step of the way, cheering him on from afar.

With huge thanks to Davis Hicks, reaching out to his connections and staying in contact.

When it came time for Mike to retire, his connections reached out to us—and somehow, everything just fell into place.

Today, he’s our resident gelding, babysitter-in-training, and all-around good citizen. Whether he’s teaching the youngsters how to be horses or just soaking up attention, Mike has become an irreplaceable part of Grand Hammock Ranch.

Sometimes the best horses aren’t the ones you go looking for—they’re the ones that find their way home. ❤️
