The transition from summer to fall means plenty of changes around the barn, and I like knowing that our horses’ digestive health is something we can stay ahead of.

We’ve been using Purina Horse Systemiq in our program, along with Outlast, to support healthy digestion and the gut microbiome. Between changing pasture, travel, competition, and different routines, there’s plenty that can challenge a horse’s digestive system. Supporting the gut every day makes a lot of sense to me.

Fall is a good time to check in with your veterinarian and make sure you're not letting routine care get lost in the shuffle of competition season. Vaccinations, dental care, parasite management, and general health checks all deserve a place on the calendar.

I’m especially thankful to have Ridgeview Veterinary Practice on our team. Having a veterinarian who knows our horses, understands our program, and can help us make thoughtful decisions about their care is invaluable—especially when the calendar gets busy.

There's always something the barn runs out of when the season gets busy. Thankfully Bowman's Feed & Pet is only a phone call away. Whether it's grain, supplements, or the little things we somehow forgot to order, their team always helps keep us on track.

Running a lesson program, coaching at competitions, riding multiple horses, answering client messages...there are never enough hours in the day.

That's why having Mythic Landing Enterprises, LLC behind the scenes has been such a huge asset. Instead of worrying about websites, sponsor deadlines, content, and the endless administrative tasks that come with running a business, I get to focus on the reason I started this in the first place: teaching, riding, and taking care of horses.

It’s hard to believe that the summer is coming to an end already!

This summer has been a bit of a whirlwind for me personally and around the farm at ABBF. We have had the fortune of welcoming several new farm family members, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to see each of them and their horses progress! Team ABBF has had some really great outings at some of our favorite events this summer. I think it’s safe to say that whether it’s been a top placing or an experience that offered a few really valuable lessons, everyone has had a lot of fun in the show ring this summer so far!

Of course, not all of our biggest wins actually happen in the show ring, and so I have particularly enjoyed spending time this summer helping a number of students get a feel for the process of bringing along a young horse or even redeveloping and perfecting some parts of the performance of their older partners. These at-home wins will make it so they can ultimately produce the results they are looking for in the fall!

With that said, we are looking ahead to the fall and some big goals! First up will be Ella Riley as she moves into her new home away from home at the University of Kentucky AND tries her hand at the AECs all in the same week! GOOD LUCK, Ella!!!

It’s no secret that the whole horse is affected by the gut microbiome.

That's one of the reasons we've incorporated Purina Horse Systemiq products into our feeding program. Between Systemiq and Outlast, it's an easy way to support our horses through the demands of training, travel, and competition.

One of the best parts about working with Voltaire Design USA & Canada is knowing the support doesn't stop after the saddle arrives. As horses change shape throughout the season, it's nice to have a team that's happy to answer questions, check fit, and make adjustments when needed. Good saddle fit isn't something you do once, it's something you stay on top of.

One of the things I value most about Bowman's Feed & Pet is that they combine the customer service of a local business with access to the products our performance horses need. Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for bay mares, and my bay mares tend to have opinions. My girls have made it pretty clear that they're happiest in their Voltaire Design USA & Canada tack.

Summer can be hard on horses. Between the heat, travel, changing pasture conditions, and busy competition schedules, it's a time of year when I pay especially close attention to what's happening inside the horse.

We've been feeding Purina Horse's Systemiq supplements for about a year now, and one of the first things I noticed was improved consistency in some of our harder keepers and more enthusiasm from horses that had always been picky eaters. Supporting the microbiome isn't always something you can see overnight, but over time we've seen healthier appetites, improved condition, and horses that seem better prepared to handle the demands of a busy season. That's the kind of support that matters when your horses are working hard.
