The last group of cut sunflowers for this year are now on the farmstand. I'll have zinnia till the first frost but only one or two vases every couple of days.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by to either buy or take pictures of the flowers.

I filled the farmstand with sunflowers I cut less than 30 minutes ago. Wicked fresh!

Due to an illness in our family I haven't had the time to post status messages so here is the latest news from our farm.

We currently have Sunflowers and Zinnia ready for the farmstand. I've been putting out the Sunflowers and will have those for close to two weeks. These are from the second and last batch I had time to get in the ground. I'll get some Zinnia out tomorrow. The Zinnia harvest starts slow but builds after each cutting all the way till frost.

I didn't get a single Dahlia in the ground this year. All of the tubers are still in storage and I'm hoping they make it till the Spring. I've had seed potatoes make it through the same amount of time so there's a chance the Dahlia will.

I did harvest some very nice garlic this year. That is currently curing anf if all goes well I will have some of that for sale.

I did get Cardoon in the ground before everything happened so I expect those to be available in October or November.

I just cultivated and slightly hilled the garlic bed. It's looking great for this time of year. The hilling of the soil around the plants is an attempt to protect the bulbs from the warmer drier weather I expect we will have later in the year. Last year I didn't hill them and the bulbs turned out to be smaller. I'm thinking of applying a layer of mulch to the bed to help retain soil moisture.

I noticed a few Cardoon plants survived the Winter. That's a first for me after planting it the past seven years. The thick snow cover must have made the difference. I'll be able to see these plants flower and go to seed.

I haven't posted in a while due to being busy prepping the field. The tomato and pepper seedlings are still under the lights in the basement and are looking great. As soon as the mild weather gets here I will move them into the greenhouse and post them up into individual pots. The onion, shallot, leek and cardoon seedlings are in the unheated greenhouse and are just about ready to go out as soon as I can till an area. The garlic is up and doing well but did heave closer to the surface after all the freeze/thaw cycles we've had. I'll hill them slightly when I cultivate them.

The rhubarb patch is doing exceptionally well. I lost six plants over the winter so I had to replace those yesterday.

The asparagus is just starting to appear but that patch needs heavy w**ding due to the mint and rag w**d that took it over last year. Mint is nice to have but if it isn't contained it will quickly take over an area.
