See yall at market this morning from 8-12. Railroad Park downtown.
Two years ago, I started making whipped tallow because I wanted to be in control of what I put on my skin. I wanted skincare that was as intentional, nourishing, and simple as the food I try to put on my family’s table.
Those first jars.. well they definitely weren’t perfect. Some of you have been with me from the beginning—the batches that had a little more grit than I wanted or smelled a little more… well… beefy. 😅
So thank you. Thank you for believing in what I was building and giving me the space to learn, refine, and grow. Today, I’m incredibly proud of what sits on my table. A silky, beautifully whipped grassfed tallow with a light, herbaceous scent that still stays true to what I believe in.
All three major ingredients are chosen with intention. Let’s chat about them.
1-CALENDULA —Organically grown calendula, started from seed here at Shade Tree Farms, hand-harvested and infused into single-source organic extra virgin olive oil using an alcohol intermediary extraction to create a rich herbal oil.
2-GRASSFED TALLOW - Local grass-fed tallow from Barefoot Springs Farm in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. I render my tallow gently and avoid over-processing because I want to honor the integrity of this incredible ingredient rather than stripping it down. Why grassfed? One question I get asked often is why I insist on using local, grass-fed tallow. The answer is simple: it’s the choice that best aligns with what I believe.
I believe good skincare begins with healthy soil, healthy plants, healthy animals, and people who care deeply for the land they’re stewarding.
For me, that means choosing tallow from cattle raised on grass. Just grass, sunshine, fresh water, and time. It’s a simple philosophy, but it’s one that reflects the way I try to live and the kind of products I want to make.
It’s not about saying everyone has to do it this way. It’s about creating something that reflects my own values and the level of care I want to offer the families who trust me with their skin.
3- RAW SHEA BUTTER— Organic, unrefined golden shea butter sourced through a women-owned co-op here in Mississippi that partners directly with the women in Africa who harvest and process the shea. Supporting businesses that care for both people and the land matters deeply to me.
What will you not find in my tallows (or any of my skincare, salves, & soaps for that matter)?? You’ll never ever find fragrance oils, essential oils, fillers, preservatives, or inexpensive shortcuts.
Only ingredients I trust.
Every jar represents months of growing, days of rendering tallow, days of slowly preparing herbal infusions, and hours of whipping, pouring, labeling, and packaging by hand.
Slow is the point.
After two years, I can honestly say THIS is the whipped tallow I’ve always hoped to make.
I’m so grateful to everyone who has encouraged me, offered feedback, and trusted me with your skin along the way. You’ve helped shape this product into something I’m genuinely proud of.
Fresh jars will be waiting at market this week, and I can’t wait to share them with you. See yall at the Brookhaven farmers market in the morning! Railroad park 8-12. 💗💪🏻
