So you know all about how good pasture raised eggs are. I'm going a step further. I'm planting a food forest. An orchard with a twist! And the chickens can go in now that I have protected the small trees. Planting nitrogen fixing trees and shrubs. And lots of different berries. I still have a lot more to plant. Today the chickens are pecking and scatching!

Grass fed sheep! They love a new pasture to graze!

Riyescott Ranch

The farm name comes from my parents cottage in England. Riyes Cottage. I am not really sure how it got its name. It sits on 3 acres right on the canal. It was build in the 1700’s. Sadly my father passed away in 2013 and my mother is now in a home. The Cottage is sold but will always be a wonderful memory. The huge apple tree that would drop huge apples in the garden. The Summer house were my dad kept the ride on lawn mower that I got him one year. So I took the name for the Ranch when I moved to Brookings in 2001. I have had various animals over the years and I have grown produce. But we now just have Sheep and chickens. Lots of them! We raise lambs for meat, and process chickens here at the ranch. I sometimes have ducks and Turkeys. I have about 200 or so egg laying chickens that roam out in the pasture with the sheep. I call my egg division “Ewes Company”. I should write a book about my ups and downs!

I hope you will enjoy coming out to see me at the Brookings Harbor Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays 10-3 where I sell my products. I want you to take up cooking again and enjoy the benefits of real food! Please let me know if you need any more information, I love to talk sheep!
