Yesterday we spent the day (in the rain) at our last Cheshire Day Show of the season. While it was a wet day, it did not put a damper on all of our riders effort and enthusiasm, which I am incredibly grateful for!! A huge thank you once again to all the staff for the Cheshire Shows, this is such a great series and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to show with you all!
We had three riders who did this as their very first horse show and just absolutely blew me away!! Holly and Cody took on the Adult Walk Trot division and made progress each class, took home some ribbons and ended their day with a second place in a very challenging discipline rail class! Holly's drive, positive attitude and ability to make corrections on the fly made for a great first showing and hopefully she will continue next year!! Amethyst and Cody rode in the Beginner A Walk Trot and went out there and listened to corrections I made, pushed through a tough class with some focus issues and had some absolutely beautiful rides! I hope this young rider will continue showing because I think she can accomplish whatever she puts her mind to!! Jules and Teddy were our final new to showing team and even though she was nervous she went out into the ring each class with a smile and can do attitude! Jules worked hard and with some fine tuning on position, I think next year she can be a rider to watch for! Jules always has a positive attitude and is always willing to lend a hand and it was so great to see her pushing herself outside her comfort zone! She and Teddy were a great team and I am so proud of her and all of our new show riders!!!
Kiera and Teddy took on the Beginner B Walk Trot and had some absolutely stunning rides! It was a class with some very tough competition, but she and Teddy went out each class and were together and steady and focused! Their final class they finally got recognized for their hard work and took home a third place ribbon and to our team it felt like the championship! Kiera does such a great job every time she rides and I am so glad she got to join us for one more show this season!!
Morgan and Carol showed in the Junior English division and while not every class was perfect, I am so incredibly proud of the horse person Morgan is becoming! There were moments that she had to really think about how to manage Carol and help her be successful in the class and Morgan handled things beautifully! In moments where others might get frustrated and give up, she showed great poise and quiet determination to help Carol find her way and then move on to the next task! I will always be happy with those kinds of rides and to me she deserves a blue ribbon for her hard work and caring support of her teammate! So so proud of you Morgan and I can't wait to see you trot through the gate at your very first show in the coliseum at Octoberfest!
Kiley and Maverick rounded out our group this weekend also in the Junior English division and proved to me how much this team has grown this season. We've had some rocky lessons over the last couple weeks, but they came out yesterday with all the confidence and poise I could imagine and rode like every class was their last! This kid and her horse are creating a partnership that some can only dream of and I'm just glad I get to be a part of it. Some bobbles here and there only show that there is always something to work on and to never be complacent, but I don't think I have to worry about that with this team. Their hard work paid off and they were able to take home the day end champion award as well!
I am so incredibly proud of these riders and how they cheered for their teammates, helped out when needed, supported each other and just had great attitudes regardless of what the weather was doing! A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents and siblings that stuck it out through the day and were willing to lend a hand when needed and just have fun with us all (the gold star chart will be made at some point 😂)! Thank you Ellen McDonald Benevides and Nick Semales for being my support team throughout the day and helping all our horses and riders be at their best! A very special thank you to Caedmon, one of our helpers at home, who jumped in to help us when we were short handed at the farm and took care of things while we were at the show! None of this would happen without every one of you and I am so incredibly grateful for you all!! Show season is almost done and I for one am pretty excited about that...lol...now we are on to Octoberfest and then to fun off season things!❤️
