We are featured on ! THANK YOU so much for consulting me on this tea article,

I am always excited to share information about tea, as one of my goals is to help tea lovers enjoy tea and maximize their tea experience.

You can experience much more from the same tea by making incremental changes to your brewing and tasting process.

Learning about tea takes time, but it is a journey you can savor for years to come.

On that note, please let me know in the comments if you have any specific topics for me to cover!

Ashley

I lost my sense of smell recently due to COVID. And here are 5 things I was reminded of as I recover:

1️⃣ Smell is very crucial to your overall tasting experience. Without it, you tea tastes bland.

2️⃣ Without your sense of smell, all you taste is limited to
• Pure sugar (sweet)
• Pure salt (salty)
• Citric acid (sour)
• Crushed caffeine tablets (bitter)
• MSG (umami)

3️⃣ Sense of smell is more important for high quality tea. I ended up drinking my stash of low quality quality tea to avoid wasting the high quality ones.

4️⃣ You smell through the front of your nose AS WELL as the back of your nose. If you only smell with the front of your nose, you are missing out on some of the lasting aromas from your tea.

5️⃣ You can train your senses to identify flavor notes better, but it takes time.

If you have loved ones who had lost their sense of smell, let me know! I can share some of the resources to help train their sense of smell. Stay safe!

Tea Pairing Recommendation for Lunar New Year❗️❤️

Tangyuan is a Chinese dessert consisting of glutinous rice balls that signify family union.

The texture is similar to mochi in that it's very soft and chewy, though tangyuan is often served in a hot broth or syrup.

And the type of fillings varies by region from sweet to salty (or both!)

My favorite is 4-flavor Tangyuan (mung beans, red beans, candied winter melon, and taro roots) from Guangdong Province, where my mother-in-law is from.

And the tangyuan pairs beautifully with our [Menghai 2009] Old Tree Ripe Pu'er!

The ripe pu-erh tea has earthy notes with depth and smooth texture. The tangyuan has sweet notes with a chewy and creamy texture.

When these two elements meet, your mouth explodes with a soft and smooth sweetness.

Whether you celebrate LNY or not, try this pairing and let me know what you think!
