Back on the tractor last week bushhogging after being laid up for 16 weeks! In June, I fell off of a tractor I had just parked. As I was climbing off, I stepped on a logging chain that was piled up on the tractor operator’s platform. During my fall over the left fender, my left foot became lodged underneath the clutch pedal and resulted in a broken leg which required surgery. Two brakes each in the tibia and fibula.
Although I am not fully recovered, it feels great to be back on the tractor as we are planting winter forages of wheat and ryegrass for our cattle.

Monday afternoon around 4:30, one of our poultry houses on our older farm caught on fire. Fortunately, the house was empty. Although it is a total loss, the responding local volunteer fire departments were able to contain it to that structure and not allow the fire to spread to the adjacent poultry house or into our cattle pasture. Thankfully, we were able to place baby chicks in the other two houses yesterday.

We would like to thank Snead Fire Chief Lee Netherton and Susan Moore Fire Chief Jerry Armstrong along with personnel from both Snead and Susan Moore Fire Departments for responding so quickly! Each of these are departments are full of volunteers who sacrifice their time away from family and train to serve their communities. We are truly blessed in Blount County to have people with a heart to serve.

We would like to thank Snead Police Chief Casey Hathcock and Snead Police Department for responding to help also!

We would finally like to thank each of our neighbors who checked on us and reached out to offer help. We live in an outstanding community.
