Why We Grow Lisianthus in Our Florida Weather
Have you ever wondered why we grow lisianthus here…
in a zone where it can be 78° one day and 45° the next?
Truth is — lisianthus isn’t the easiest flower for Florida.
It loves cool, steady temperatures, long growth cycles, and gentle weather…
none of which our region is famous for. 😅
And yet…
we grow them anyway. Why?
Because some flowers are worth the challenge.
Because beauty grown through difficulty feels different.
Because there is nothing like watching a lisianthus unfurl —
delicate, layered, soft as a whisper —
in a place where it isn’t supposed to bloom so effortlessly.
Growing lisianthus here means:
🌿 Protecting young plants from surprise heat
🌿 Helping them transition through sudden temperature swings
🌿 Watching the weather like a hawk
🌿 And caring for the soil so the plants stay strong
It also means patience.
Lisianthus takes time — months of preparing, rooting, strengthening —
long before you ever see a bloom.
But when they finally appear?
When that first ruffled petal opens under Florida sun?
