Hum Hollow Farm Hum Hollow Farm has many aspects to it- but the sheep really pay the rent by working while training dogs/handlers for herding.

We use a good wool ra for breeding with the idea that someday I'll have tthe time to spin... but in the meantime there is wool avaialble as well as hides for purchase

The flock is sheared, at least half of whole flock, not just 1 side of each sheep. It was a perfect day for shearing, and i am so thankful for Tyler Ward and Emily for helping. Betty skirted and bagged the fleece after Jim sheared. Everyone got their annual vaccination s.
Our next date is this n e xt Friday at 1 pm. I could use more help, even in the morning sorting the short from unshorn.let me know if you can help. Tyler is helping again,YAY! My hands don't hold tight like they used to.

Shearing is on tomorrow at 10 . If you're out and about and could help that would be wonderful. A few of the crew have had to drop off the list for tomorrow, so I am short handed. It would be skirting fleece amd carrying them and helping to push the sheep forward in the chute. Doc and I can get them in the chute system and Trevor was very helpful tonight moving a few onto the chute.
It's probably only 3 hrs or so and we'll set up a 2nd date so if you want to help but can't there's another time

Good morning, evdn though it may rain a bit today, the shearing is on for Friday at 10 am. Come out to help if you can. We'll an the next Friday also, Jim is able to do about half this week.
We're not herding this Sunday instead We'll herd on Memorial Day. Sorry but it's a great way to spend a holiday.
There's 4 new alpacas in the flock. They're a bit shell shocked , but last night were standing with the llamas, so that's good.
Going down to knock down the nettles around the shearing area, they're very stingy this ye a r.

Good morning, tomorrow is the last brooktondale pancake breakfast of the season. I'll get to herding about 10 am. The weather looks pretty good.
Shearing will be in 2 sessions as there's more sheep than Jim can do in 1. We're scheduled for 10 Friday 22nd, so keep your fingers crossed for dry Weather. If you want to help please let me know. Since we're older now, wrangling the sheep is harder.

SNKC is having farm dog trial at Sara's so I know some folks will be there.

I was at the sheep Wednesday when the dun was out, it was beautiful but cold. If it has been Sunday we would have soaked up the sun, but it wasn't. This Sunday is once again going to be too cold to herd,plus the sheep in the training area haven't really trudged through the snow other than to eat hay.
But there's a pancake breakfast in brooktondale, I was planning on going around 9:30 , it ends at 11.
And really soon the llamas will arrive, it just needs to beautiful bit warmer for them to settle in.
This picture shows how nice it was Wed. I see ent home and raked snow off my roof with just my vest on, even though it was only 14 degrees, the sun made all the difference.

Well. . .. it's going to be too cold for herding on Sunday, and too cold to bring the new llamas to the flick. So stay home and stay warm.
If i could get pics off my text I would of the new guard girls, maybe soon they will be here!
