We apologize for the noise level here (pretty sure all our neighbors follow the page). A pileated woodpecker couple makes a nest in our mulberry tree every year right in the middle of the bird yard. They are big birds and are in the stage of flying back and forth to the nest pretty constantly all day and every time the birds here freak out thinking it's a hawk 🤦‍♀️ If I could reason with them I'm sure they would learn to ignore them, but they don't listen to me 🙄

These 2 boys are in the Cleveland area and are in desperate need of a home. A good home, one that will love them and not see them as food. Their owner is willing to drive to get them somewhere safe. I have said I will take them if absolutely necessary but we are full-full, like we cannot afford any more animals without some we have being adopted, which makes it a struggle when one is dumped and I don't feel like I really have a choice but to take them. I want to phase out owner surrenders besides special needs birds and focus on the ridiculous amount of dumped rescues in this area. These boys are healthy and have been raised indoors from hatch. Their names are Twinkle Toes and Sheldon and the owners have gone above what is practical trying to work around laws to keep them or find homes but I still thought a courtesy post may find one or both a good home. Feel free to share if you know anyone within a couple hours of Cleveland

Donations to help rescues don't have to be expensive to be so appreciated. A family in New Lebanon saves us their ice packs from their insulin deliveries and when the nights are hot these are literal lifesavers! All from something that would likely otherwise end up in the trash!

I got bags and bags of cucumber and bananas on clearance today, the birds all cooled off with some chopped up, but Addie made sure even the special needs birds got plenty and made theirs into a smoothie 😀 The little crossbeaks get so excited when there's a treat even they can eat with their friends!
