Moving day! The coop part is completely secure but run has a gap where he had to level it, but I'm out here working this morning so am letting them explore. A bit of a change is Coney is joining them. I realized after getting her she too had water belly which isn't responding to antibiotics. Her owner was aware she was sick but had assumed she went off to pass away when she went missing. They did a surrender and we'll keep trying to control the symptoms as long as we can. She will be in here too. She's very calm and sweet so she's perfect to add to the flock with the disabilities a few of them have

So today I was out there and my phone was almost dead, so I couldn't make the screen bright to see what I was taking a picture of, but Qingming and Dart were both being so cute so I decided to just take pictures and see what they looked like later. Sadly they are better than the pictures I usually take when I'm really trying 🤣

The 3 newest released roosters just really fit in immediately after the first day of finding where they belong. Nigel went to a coop at bedtime with some other roosters that have accepted him, the other 2, Hector and Long John I was surprised to see were already at home enough they were taking a nice long dustbath! All 3 of them are so friendly to me too! They just act like they've always known me and run up to get petted or snacks. I'm glad they forgave me so quickly for grabbing and kidnapping them 😆

I'm heartbroken to say Kili, one of Mrs. Clam's little babies she raised, died this evening of reproductive disease. So many of our loved little hens have passed from reproductive issues and I really hate it! Their little bodies are designed to push out eggs so unnaturally fast so that even in a non factory setting they wear out sometimes way too soon. She was kind of a mean little hen to her flock and a few days ago I noticed she wasn't being mean like usual, I picked her up to check on her and her poor belly was so swollen 😭 I don't currently have a vet available that does superlorien implants and with how quickly she passed I don't think I could have gotten her there quick enough anyway. She was three and a half, which wasn't nearly enough time to spend with her, but I'm grateful she never knew anything but love and got to live with her mom and siblings every day she had here 💔

Lennon and McCartney got to go on a little adventure today 🥰 Someone wanted to do a homecoming proposal and asked to take a duckling, well if you take Lennon you have to take McCartney too or they would be screaming for each other! So he took both along. I want to give him huge kudos for finding a duckling for this idea instead or buying them and then dumping 😢 I know it sounds ridiculous! But people get proposal babies just like they do Easter chicks and then just toss them! After prom is up there with Easter for dumped baby calls 😔 I'm sure he would have preferred a cute little newborn yellow duckling, but being able to provide them with 2 babies not quite so little, and not the stereotypical yellow was honestly just as adorable! I'm glad he found a way to do this while not adding to the unwanted duck population 🥳 It looks like the babies worked their magic, because she said yes! Wishing them a happy homecoming! (Photos shared with mom's permission, but still did a little super professional editing job just to be cautious 😉)
