During a school board workshop, the superintendent said 10 or more schools may close or be repurposed for the 2027-28 year.

“I don’t want to scare the public, but I would say definitely above 10,” the superintendents’s response to a question about how many schools may look to repurpose through this cycle. This is being discussed in order to address a budget crisis Broward County Public Schools is facing due to declining enrollment.

We’ve just completed this school year and 6 schools are now set to permanently close:

- North Fork Elementary
- Palm Cove Elementary
- Panther Run Elementary
- Plantation Middle School
- Seagull Alternative High School
- Sunshine Elementary

The schools that would be part of this additional 10 or more have not been revealed yet. Thoughts?
