Exciting week for maple in Maine! The North American Maple Syrup Council (NAMSC) held its annual conference in South Portland. We were asked to present with Future Generations University about our 3/16ths inch line cleaning process. Do you use 3/16ths line? What have you found your best practices to be?

Many people think sugarmakers only work at it in the spring but it’s a year round job around here. Finishing up the new trail, main line pulled, installing tubing, drops next… busy busy but expansion is happening! #🍁

The lines are covered in ice - I think this is rime ice, frozen fog, as opposed to hoar frost which forms on clear nights, but someone can correct me if I’m wrong. Either way, it’s beautiful. Not great for sap flow but it makes it easy to find leaks such as the bear bite in the last photo, as long as you can stand the cold long enough to find them! 🥶🥶🥶

Happy Maple Sunday!! 💖 As our farm and family grows and changes it’s fun for us to look back at where we started. Since we moved out to a more remote spot in the Mahoosuc mountains, we miss seeing so many friends and family that we made over the years of starting our sugaring operation in Brownfield. Thank you everyone who has reached out to us! Every day of the year feels like maple Sunday to us because of you all 😁 We hope you enjoy celebrating our favorite holiday!! 🤗🥞🙌💖

First boil of the season is under our belt! The first one is always a struggle, getting all systems a go, and this one wasn’t without its challenges, but we are still grateful for this delicious gift from the thaw 💖🍁🥞
