Coco and Rena are in need of new fly masks due to their eye condition.🙏🏼🩷
These ladies have an eye disease called Equine recurrent uveitis (ERU), also known as moon blindness. There is no cure for this disease and they will eventually go blind.
Coco is 30 + years old, and is almost completely blind in one eye and compromised vision in the other. Rena is 24 years old, and going blind in one eye and compromised vision in the other as well.
This disease causes painful inflammation to their eyes in daylight due to the UV rays. They have to wear UV blocking fly masks all year round because of this. The effectiveness of the UV blocking breaks down over time so these gals, need 2-3 new fly masks per year. Their summer fly masks have now reached their effectiveness and now it’s time to get them new ones.
Coco’s mask costs around $45 due to the limited options for her since she is a pony but her head size is between pony and Arabian. There is one brand that has her perfect fit in the style she needs. Rena’s fly mask costs about $30-$35 depending on which one is available in the style she needs.
