Salutations!

It has been quite some time since last we posted, much longer than we had anticipated. Having a full schedule due to regular employment and a college education will do that to you I guess šŸ˜…

However, our small farm is still going strong as we are still maintaining our flock to the same quality as before as well as seeking out new ventures. We are currently obtaining the resources necessary to dive into both meat production of various fowl as well as meat and dairy production of GOATS 🐐! While this is a learning process for us, we hope to perfect our methods so that we can open such product lines to interested parties.

If this is something that would interest you, let us know! If there’s something else of interest that you believe falls in line with what we set out to do, don’t hesitate to reach out. We strive to learn and improve our methods of operation to run a successful and sustainable farm for ourselves and those that choose to support us. Any support gained from you, even in the form of reading this post, is greatly appreciated!

Our mixed flock all love the taste of green grass, so much so that they rush to the gate when it’s time to graze on the property! While we incorporate times where they can consume their daily dose of greens, we make sure to include a healthy quantity of great quality pellet mixture to meet their feeding needs. As much as we would love to let them free range the property unsupervised, we prioritize the birds safety and use their run as protection from the variety of predators the countryside has in waiting.

Hank and Peggy taking a cautious snooze while we work on the main gate to their run.

Did you know that, just as ducks, geese can sleep with one eye open? This involves the way their brain operates, with one half at rest while the other side remains in a semi-lucid state of awareness so that they can be on the lookout for predators and other threats to them and their flock. It’s an interesting method of self preservation!

Goob keeping watch over the flock Friday evening this past week. While Goober is not specifically a livestock dog himself, as he is a mixed breed and not trained as such, he demonstrates the traits of a Great Pyrenees in moments such as these.

Sometimes he make believes he is a chicken, often being caught taking a dust bath alongside the chickens.

Thank you to everyone who has currently liked our page and supported our growing farm thus far! While we currently are smaller in size, we hope over time to grow and expand the variety of animals we care for as well as incorporating other aspects of farming. It is always a good idea to take a step at a time so that we can do things right!

Currently, we have the following to offer for those that are interested:

$5 - Chicken Eggs/dz. (Without Cartons)
$4 - Chicken Eggs/dz. (With Cartons)
$6 - Duck Eggs/dz. (Without Cartons)
$5 - Duck Eggs/dz. (With Cartons)

Things to know:

-Our eggs are collected daily to guarantee freshness as well as unintended egg development.

-There is no set limit for quantity requested on Chicken Eggs, however larger quantities may take some time to fulfill dependent on quantity readily available as well as the current size of our flock.

-Ducks Eggs are limited to availability as we have a smaller quantity of laying ducks.

-Providing cartons not only helps with the financial stability of our farm, by decreasing continuous costs on materials, but is better for the environment as they are reused rather than thrown away. We will happily accept any cartons regardless of size or branding in exchange for the discounted rate on Eggs! All we ask is that they are in usable condition since they will be used to transport eggs for any of our supporters.

Thank you for any and all support, and we hope that we will have it throughout our farm’s journey as we continue working towards our dream!

Hank and the gang enjoying some fresh grass today during feeding time 🄰

Hank does his job well protecting the flock and keeping everyone together! Confident and cautious, he demonstrates just one of many uses Embden geese have on any farm.
