This isn’t our usual content, but say hello to Brie & Bartlett’s newest employee and mascot, Shanks!
If you’re new here, B&B started 5 years ago as a charcuterie fundraiser for an animal rescue I was running at the time.
Our sweet husky Baja, who my boyfriend Ross has had since Baja was 2 months old, passed a couple of months ago at the age of 10. He was spoiled, he was loved, and while it was devastating for both of us, I was only lucky enough to know him for a year; Ross was devastated, and we decided to hold off on another dog for a while to let the grief settle.
Then we stumbled across Shanks on Petfinder. 🫠
It was important to me that our next pupper was a rescue, and I’m a sucker for a sob story. So when this little husky mix with a missing leg popped up in West Hollywood, we emailed immediately. He was surrendered by a breeder in CA who couldn’t sell him due to a leg deformity, but all we saw was a happy husky baby who’d look great in a backpack.
We were right. 😂
If you’ve never worked in rescue before, there’s this thing called a transport train—people all over the country volunteer to help adopters get pets from other states. 20+ amazing people from California to Indiana came together and drove Shanks to us, an hour and a half at a time over the course of 3 days!
A HUGE thank you to Angela, Megan, and everyone at Deserving Paws for all the hard work you do and for trusting us with this sweet boy. He’s gonna be loved by thousands here in Indy 🥹
This is what it was about the whole time. Thank you guys for supporting my little business so I can keep doing what I really love to do.
Love,
Presley
