Well, it’s been a week of planting, picking, pruning, trellising, weeding and watching the turtle. The turtle is by far the most interesting as she makes her way from the pond and crosses the farm road on her pilgrimage to find the perfect spot to lay her eggs. We’ve upset her this year by planting tomatoes in the High Tunnel she prefers. That’s our rotation, but we feel kind of bad about it.
Here’s a look at the preparations for Barker’s Island farmers’ market on Saturday, June 20, 8:45-noon: This is a big week for greens. So many there was a line at the washstand! Napa cabbage, Bok Choi, Romaine, Butterhead and other leafy head lettuce, salad mix, scallions. We still have asparagus, too. Probably a few other things also.
Time to get back to work and see if the turtle is out and about. See you at the market!🥬
