La Finca is a certified organic vegetable farm on 40 acres in East Central MN - 1 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities and 1 hour south of Duluth - and has operated as a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm since 2006 with about 7 acres of vegetable fields. 11 acres of fields are enclosed with an 8 ft. woven wire deer fence. Property includes a commercial kitchen with walk-in freezer (built in 2011), newer barn with two finished rooms (built in 2010), packing shed with walk-in cooler, three 3000 sq. ft. high tunnels, one 860 sq. ft. heated greenhouse, and a 2300 sq. ft. ranch style home with many updates. Vegetable farming equipment also available.

Greetings from the greater Bruno area! Last week we sent out our winter letter for CSA members and we are accepting registrations for the 2015 growing season. This year we are offering our 17 week Summer Share, 9 week Summer Share, Fall Share, and Fall Chicken Share. We can barely wait for our fresh veggies!

If you did not get a copy of our winter letter and registration form, please let us know and we'll send one your way.
We will be selling wild fish and grass fed meats again this year. Information about fish and meat will be available at the La Finca Market website in mid-April. The store website is: www.lafincamd.com and is still under construction.

La Finca has grown within the past year or so. In late October of 2013 we purchased the Organic Carrot (a health foods store) in Sandstone, MN, and made the bold step of changing the name to La Finca Market and Deli! The previous owners, Don and Jodi, were wonderful stewards of the store and we are very happy to be in Sandstone.

Since taking the store we have added more groceries, deli items and baked goods produced at our on farm commercial kitchen, and, of course, veggies and free range chickens from our farm. We continue to a good variety of supplements as well.

Tzeitel and the bakery team have been busy baking bread! We now sell gluten free loaves made with almond and rice flour. They are available at the store in Sandstone, Whole Foods Coop in Duluth, and Seward Coop in Mpls. Tzeitel will be sampling her bread at the Seward Coop this coming Sunday, 12/14, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Check back soon for future updates!

Hello Fall Share Members and Soup Share Members,

Please note: the Fall Share schedule you received earlier today included a delivery on Thanksgiving. This is incorrect. The correct dates for delivery in November for the Fall Share are: 11/14 and 11/21, and for the Soup Share members the November delivery will be on 11/21

Hello to all Summer Mixed Meat / Fish Share Members:

The Summer Mixed Meat/Fish Share delivery is this coming Thursday, September 12th at your regular pick up site. The Mixed Meat / Fish Share will be available for pick up from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Your frozen share will be in bags inside of the coolers at your site. Please take the bag or bags with your name on it. Remember, this is a one time delivery.

Enjoy your beef, chickens, and fish, and feel free to share any of your favorite recipes or preparation tips!

La Finca Farm Stand is improving each week. We started with a tent for first couple of weeks and Tzeitel has now built the "playhouse," which is a fully enclosed mini store.

Come and visit us every Friday to see all our new additions.

This week we'll have baked goods, soups, salads, fresh organic produce, and our Kale, Strawberry, banana smoothies. Tabouili has been a hit for the past two weeks, and I am planning to make another batch this Friday.

Thanks to all who have been frequenting the farm stand. We hope to see you this coming Friday.

Hello to all Summer Chicken Share, Summer Chicken Share Cut-Up, and Mini Summer Chicken Share Members:

The first Summer Chicken Share delivery is this coming Thursday, July 11th at your regular pick up site. The Chicken Share will be available for pick up from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Your frozen chicken halves, cut-ups will be in bags inside of the coolers at your site.

If you have a Mini Chicken Share, this is your only delivery.
Enjoy your chicken, and feel free to share any favorite chicken recipes or preparation tips!

This week's delivery is on Wednesday, July 3rd. Summer Share members can expect plenty of greens for salads and stir fries. Tzeitel will be baking green garlic cheddar mini loaves, carrot muffins, banana muffins, and chocolate or vanilla cupcakes with frosting. All baked goods are prepared with almond flour. Please place your order before noon on Tuesday. Our farmstand will be open this Friday here at the farm from 12 noon to 7 PM.
