Brunswick Community,
I felt compelled to share something heavy on my heart today.
I’ve known Evan Beard for about ten years now. Our first interaction was at Wake Up Coffee, where he used to make me my delicious Dirty Chais—always iced, of course. I can still hear him say it with a smile.
Today, I’m heartbroken to learn that Evan has passed.
Over the years, our paths crossed often—always in the whirlwind of life. I got to know him more personally when we worked together at NANCY on Saint Simons. By then, he had already overcome his battle with colon cancer. He often spoke about how good God had been to him, how grateful he was for his family, friends, and the support that lifted him through.
He shared stories about buying his first home with his wife, Megan, and how he was pursuing his dream in nursing school. After that, I would see him in passing—sometimes him, sometimes his family. At one point, I was even delivering packages to their home through UPS, not realizing it at the time. His family later became my guests when I was serving at Tara Thai and Sushi.
Evan was always surrounded by love and support. He carried such a warm, grounded spirit, and I’m forever grateful to have known someone like him.
Today, my prayers are with his children, his wife Megan, his parents, his brothers, and every person lucky enough to have known him.
Rest easy, Evan. You will be deeply missed.
