Last night we brought home the newest members of the farm. They are not quite sure what to think yet, but the kids are determined that they will be friends.

Calf #6 was born yesterday - a little bull calf the kids named Rhubarb. Fun fact we learned yesterday - rhubarb is technically a vegetable, but treated as a fruit :)

With the nice weather yesterday, we moved the cows with calves and the heifers (last year’s calves) to their summer pasture. It’s a lot quieter at the house - just four cows who still need to calve and the bull left.

Calf #4 (a bull calf the kids have named Squash) was born on Sunday. This one was a big surprise, because we were quite certain the cow wasn’t bred - she didn’t calve last year and didn’t show the signs. She must have heard us talking about alternative plans for her future…but we’re happy with the calf!

It was an incredibly busy (but amazing) weekend for our family, so we didn’t get to post as things happened. But there was a lot of new life on the farm this weekend! Friday night, calf #3 was born - a bull calf named Pepper.

We also welcomed kittens on Saturday and calf #4 on Sunday (pictures to come)!
