American Brahman cattle, the first beef breed developed in the U.S., rank #1 in hybrid vigor, heat tolerance and efficiency compared to all other beef breeds. With improved growth and performance, Brahman cattle increase profitability and play an important role in crossbreeding programs world wide. Brahman cattle are the common thread connecting other American breeds developed in the last century.

Often referred to as "Crossbreeding's Common Denominator," cattlemen on every continent seek American Brahman genetics. The Brahman female and her F-1 offspring, the queens of cow country, are in high demand by cattlemen around the globe. The Brahman breed's development is an unparalleled success story. Today's cattlemen breed Brahmans for all the right reasons.

One of the greatest joys of breeding cattle begins with a simple question ... "What if?"

What if this female is mated to that bull?

What strengths will complement one another?

What possibilities could the next generation hold?

As you study a pasture of replacement females, it's hard not to dream a little. Every breeding decision is an opportunity to build on the past while creating something even better for the future. That's the excitement of seedstock breeding—the endless pursuit of the next great one.

The possibilities are only limited by your vision.

One World. Countless Ways to Enjoy Beef.

From slow-smoked brisket in Texas to grilled steaks in South America and traditional beef dishes across Asia, Europe, and beyond, every culture has its own way of producing, preparing, and enjoying beef.

While feeding systems, culinary traditions, and consumer preferences vary around the world, one thing remains the same—the dedication of cattle producers committed to providing wholesome, nutritious beef for families everywhere. American Brahman genetics are an important part of that global story, contributing to beef production in diverse climates and production systems while helping meet the growing demand for quality beef around the world.

No matter where it's served, every great meal begins with the people and the cattle behind it.

American Brahman. Feeding a Global Tradition.

There are individuals whose impact reaches far beyond their own ranch gates—individuals whose vision, dedication, and life’s work help shape a breed for generations to come. Steamer Swaner was one of those individuals.

It is with great sadness that the American Brahman Breeders Association acknowledges the passing of Steven “Steamer” Swaner, a lifelong Brahman breeder whose commitment to the breed helped influence the development of Red Brahman genetics throughout the United States and around the world. His passion for raising functional, productive cattle and dedication to breed improvement created a legacy that will live on for generations.

Steamer’s contributions extended far beyond the cattle he bred. He served as an ABBA Director for 30 years, providing decades of leadership and service to the Association and its membership. In recognition of his lifetime of contributions, Steamer was inducted into the ABBA Hall of Fame in 2024.

As we honor Steamer’s memory, we are proud to share the video created for his Hall of Fame induction—a tribute to his life, accomplishments, and lasting influence on the American Brahman breed.

The American Brahman Breeders Association extends its heartfelt condolences to the Swaner family, his friends, and the many breeders whose lives he touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Swaner family during this difficult time.

A higher standard for F1 genetics.

The Golden Certified F1 program recognizes cattle that meet established requirements for verified parentage and breed composition, providing added assurance in the genetics behind each animal.

For producers and buyers, that certification means greater confidence in the cattle they select and the value those genetics can bring to their operation.

Golden Certified F1: recognized for the genetics behind the gold.
