Need a fountain? There’s so many benefits to adding a fountain to a lake or pond:

• Water Aeration and Oxygenation: Spraying water into the air breaks the surface tension and transfers high amounts of dissolved oxygen into the water, which supports fish and beneficial aerobic bacteria.

• Algae Control: The continuous water movement breaks up floating scum, starves algae of stagnant conditions, and helps mix algae spores away from direct sunlight.

• Odor Elimination: High oxygen levels prevent organic waste at the bottom from rotting in stagnant, anaerobic conditions, stopping the buildup of foul-smelling hydrogen sulfide gas.

• Mosquito and Pest Deterrent: Mosquitoes and other insects require calm, still water to lay and hatch eggs; constant surface agitation disrupts their breeding cycle.

• Sediment and Muck Reduction: Increased oxygen accelerates the natural decomposition of leaves, fish waste, and organic sludge on the pond bottom.

• Fish Health: Mixing the water helps prevent thermal stratification (layers of differing temperatures and low oxygen) and keeps temperatures more even during hot summer months.

• Aesthetics and Sound: The visual display and gentle splashing sound create a relaxing focal point for your yard or property.

With Hurricane Polo bringing heavy rainfall into parts of Texas, now is a good time to keep a close eye on your lake.

After a long, hot summer, many unaerated lakes have developed layers of warm, oxygenated water near the surface and cooler, low-oxygen water near the bottom.
A sudden influx of cooler rainwater, runoff and wind can cause these layers to mix rapidly - a process commonly called "lake turnover".

When that happens, dissolved oxygen can drop quickly throughout the lake and, in severe cases, cause a fish kill.

Watch for fish gathering at the surface, near incoming water or around fountains and other areas of moving water - especially early in the morning. These can be signs of low dissolved oxygen. To try and prevent this from happening, we usually recommend an aeration system that is appropriately sized for your pond or lake. As always, we can help get you setup with the best aeration system to help protect your investment. Contact us at 866-422-9022 or on our website!

What’s Beneath the Surface?

You can’t manage a fishery based on guesses.

An electrofishing survey gives our biologists a detailed look at the size, condition, and balance of the fish living in your lake. That information helps us create recommendations based on what your fishery actually needs.

Better data. Better decisions. Better fishing.

freshly stocked! Goldfish are extremely hardy, and are a high calorie snack for bass. They are super easy for bass to see in muddy waters too, making goldfish an easy target. Bass like them, but BIG bass LOVE them. Have you thought about adding goldfish to your stocking plan?
