Verdant Hollow Farm

Verdant Hollow Farm Contact us for a visit! In April 2016 Verdant Hollow was purchased with the intent to convert the 230 acres to an organic farm and retreat center.

Verdant Hollow is an Animal Welfare Approved farm using regenerative practices to produce seasonal vegetables, certified grass fed lamb, goat milk, pasture raised pork and eggs. We are currently a work in progress, but hope to be growing food and caring for animals on the farm by Spring of 2017. In addition to a working farm we look forward to hosting visitors for retreats, eduction, and relaxation all under the umbrella of a permaculture philosophy.

Join us on May 30th (12-2pm) for our “Meet the Cheesemaker” event. If you love cheese and have never had the pleasure of talking to about all things cheese you won’t want to miss this special afternoon. Tig will be set up in the farm store with a variety of this seasons cheese offerings (and more) for your sampling enjoyment and chatting with everyone about what it takes to turn grass into milk into cheese and all the delicious details that come through with every bite. It’s open house style so just stop on by and say hello!

The last few weeks in pictures…this month has been a wild ride and it’s nice to be on the back end of lambing/kidding season! A whole slew of healthy babes were born on the farm 31 kids out of 19 moms (1 more to go)! 23 lambs out of 11 ewes, that includes one healthy set of quads and several sets of trips. Many a sleepless night balanced out with a supportive team and the bright, joyous faces of visiting friends (new and old) and family. There’s nothing quite like sharing the experience of new spring life with people we love here in the farm. Pastures are starting to pop and the need for hay is dwindling down. We started regular milking with a select group of does which means we also made our first batch of cheese of 2026! The first two makes will all go to the ACS competition, but it’s looking like we will have some for sale sometime in early/mid May so stay tuned🧀

This week in pictures…1) Goats on pasture! We moved this seasons hikers, the sweetest mix of grandmas and 2025 kids, out of the barns for the season 2) Knocking out our massive pre kidding/lambing season punch list one task at a time, it sure does feel like spring in our tired bones at the end of these days, grateful for more laughter than tears at this stage with our fab team 3) Ended a day laying with June in pasture watching sheep and smelling grass 4)Intergenerational goat snuggles for said pasture group 5)Automatic water floats are back on most groups and we are all rejoicing in not lugging water jugs everywhere…plus they are Teva approved! 6) Major headway was made in our milk house/parlor improvements, we are almost there 7) The barns are cleaned out, refreshed with clean bedding, and full of pregnant does ready to welcome the new kid crew 8)Goat TV! We finally installed our barn cam to keep an extra close eye on everyone throughout kidding

“U-Pick” Garden Position available!!! We have decided to shake things up in the garden for the 2026 season (and beyond) and are currently offering two different opportunities for the space. One is a full time Garden Manager position, but is built around transitioning our garden to focus more on perennial herb/flower production, apothecary program growth, and season extension.
Our other option is to offer our garden and season extension area as an incubator space for a farmer looking for land access. We know there are a lot of folks out there who have the skills and drive to run their own successful produce farm, but are limited due to the expense of land leasing or purchasing. This would give someone the opportunity to run their own business within Verdant Hollow Farms all the while benefiting from a mutual partnership. If either of these opportunities seem appealing to you or someone you know follow the link in our bio or reach out to me directly.
