Plant Sale and 2026 Season Start

Howdy Flatwater Friends and Family!

Here we are, we have reached the start of the 2026 season!

We have been busy bees on the farm these days and have a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks. From seeding, prepping gardens, transplanting, and now harvesting - we are working at max capacity to try and make sure this is the best season yet!
This past weekend marked our first at Green City Market in Chicago. A little chilly, but the sun was shining and the people were out in droves. We got to connect with some of our favorite chefs in the area and see some of our beloved Chicago CSA members.

We are kicking off the CSA season here in Buchanan this upcoming Saturday - May 9 - with our first ever SPRING PLANT SALE!
Just in time for Mother's day! What better way to say "we love you mom" than with her very own baby plant.
Now is your chance to grow what the pros are growing. We will have a wide variety of Organic seedling plants that we have started from seed and prepared for you to take home and plant in your gardens. Everything from vegetables to flowers, we should have some fun options for you to choose from. The sale will last from 10am until 2 with exclusive access for CSA members during the first 2 hours.

This will also be a chance for a sneak peek of the new Flatwater Farmstand! We are planning to have a larger Farmstand space to be open throughout the week for the general public and our CSA customers to shop at their leisure. So join us this Saturday from 10am to 2pm for the first weekend of our 2026 CSA season! CSA members will be allowed to use their shares to purchase plants. We will also have a limited availability of some produce too.

The season is young and the weather has been quite up and down to start this year so our produce will be a little light this first week or two. If you are looking to fill your lettuce fix, we will have some baby lettuce and arugula.

With this being the last week before the start of the season, We would like to encourage any last minute shoppers to get signed up before Saturday to take advantage of our membership benefits.

Remember as a CSA member you receive a discount on produce, early access to special events and other exclusive offers. It also guarantees you have access to beautiful organic produce meaning exceptional taste and healthy living.
We have great options to suit your family's needs so check out the website or click the button below for more information and to sign up.

Also new this year, we will be hosting a camp for kids aged 5-10 where youngsters will learn how to grow their own fruits and vegetables and how to do it in a sustainable way.

The camp will run from July 20-24 and take place during the morning hours. There will be plenty of activities to keep your little ones engaged, active, and learning how to nurture the self and the land.
Click the button below to go to our camp page, learn more, and sign up the kids for some summer fun!

Yesterday we had an amazing opportunity to be in a room with some incredibly talented chefs to talk shop, connect, and build relationships.

Huge thanks to for putting on the event - your new digs look great! Can’t wait for that space to be up and running.

This was a chance for the farmers to network with Chicago’s best chefs and let them know what we are growing and how we can get our produce in their kitchens. We met some really cool people and said Hi to some good friends. And brunch was *chef’s kiss*

Thanks to Green City Market, and many other hard working individuals that could get us all together.

Be sure to check these places out when looking for some great food in Chicago. And con say hi to us at Green City Market starting May 2!

Even though we are still freezing our butts off here in Southwest Michigan, we are trying to squeeze in some outdoor chores where we can.
This past week we tackled some pruning projects for our fruit trees and bushes. Winter is the perfect time to prune as the dormant plants save their stored energy to promote new healthy growth in Spring.
We've got plenty more cooking in the germination room too, so stay tuned for more updates as we shift out of winter and into spring.

Be sure to follow us on social media. Check out our website for information about our CSA program - registration for 2026 is now open! And join our email list for monthly newsletters and all the latest scoop.
