PSO:
We are a “farm” stand. Not a bake sale stand. We live on a farm. We are not conveniently located in town… we are outside of town where most farms are. Yes, we are further out. Yes, it takes 15 minutes from town and the route is rural. (This is not that far out as I am used to having lived in canaan and seneca rocks for many before returning home to Upshur). This type of drive is typical for a FARM in most places. If you are looking for a genuine farm stand offering not only baked goods with ingredients sourced from ours and other local farms, but ALSO fresh grown fruits and veggies and free range eggs I encourage you to “make the trip” and come see us.
Recently I have been receiving many messages from people asking why we put our stand so far out of town or that the drive is just to far. lol. So to clear things up… It is because this is our home “out here” and this is a farm stand at an actual farm. I promise the drive isn’t that bad, in fact we find it is scenic and pleasant most days. I make every baked good from scratch, no pre made mixes/boxes, my breads take days to prepare before they are baked. Just good old fashioned tried and true recipes. While I have not gone through the tedious and expensive process to become “certified” organic our gardens are grown organically. The ingredients I use to bake are almost always organic. I get that isnt everyone’s priority, or cup of tea so to say, and thats okay. Its mine though. For myself and my family and the people that support my small business, I want to grow and bake and sell items I would eat myself and have tried to find locally for years.
So, if healthy, locally grown, made from scratch items coming from a rural farm aren’t your thing, no worries. There are lots of other options out there. But if you can appreciate a nice drive in the country, homemade and home grown foods, and believe in supporting locally owned businesses, I think you might enjoy our stand. Even if we are “so far outside of town”. 😉
