A little coffee break from our Taiwan tea adventures. ☕️🇹🇼

We stopped by VWI by CHADWANG in Taipei, founded by 2017 World Brewers Cup champion Chad Wang.

Fun fact: VWI stands for V***r, Water and Ice - a nod to the importance of water in brewing.

Whether it’s tea or coffee, we appreciate the attention to detail and craftsmanship that go into a great cup. 🍃

A visit to where it all started! 🍃🇹🇼

In 1987, our family planted our first tea garden in Wushe, Nantou, Taiwan.

Nearly 40 years later, we’re still growing tea in these mountains, including Qingxin Oolong, one of Taiwan’s most beloved cultivars for high mountain tea.

A little ceramics haul from Taiwan! 🇹🇼

One of my favorite things to shop for in Taiwan is ceramics, especially with so many beautiful designs and unique glazes to choose from.

This trip, I picked up everything from celadon teaware with crackle glaze to colorful ceramic bowls. I also learned a few interesting things about the pieces along the way!

If you love tea, save this Yongkang Street tea-shop crawl! 🍵

Three tea shops worth checking out around Yongkang Street in Taipei, each with a different take on Taiwanese tea:

📍Jing Sheng Yu 京盛宇 京盛宇 𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙪 | 100%台灣茶 - Great for comparing teas from different farms and regions in a modern setting.

📍Wang De Chuan 王德傳茶莊 王德傳茶莊 | Wang De Chuan - A historic tea brand with a polished, premium presentation and a broad tea selection.

📍Yoshan Tea 遊山茶訪 遊山茶訪 Yoshan Tea - A heritage tea brand with a striking, high-end Yongkang store that feels more like a luxury tea boutique.

They’re all close enough to visit in one afternoon, so it’s an easy little tea crawl if you’re already exploring the Dongmen / Yongkang area.

Another Taipei tea space I’m excited to come back to! 🍵

I only had time for a quick look at the new smith+hsu l 當代茶饗 space this trip, but I loved the clean, contemporary design and how seamlessly tea and teaware are presented together.

Next visit: afternoon tea.

One of the most thoughtful tea spaces I’ve visited in Taipei so far. 🍵

Hermit’s Hut 三徑就荒 feels quiet, intentional, and designed to make you slow down and actually pay attention to the tea.

I loved that the experience goes beyond just drinking - there’s so much emphasis on understanding where the tea comes from, how it was made, and how to appreciate it.

Definitely a place I’d come back to.

Spotted a brand new modern tea house at the new Garden City mall in Taipei and had to take a quick look!

SUNMAI CHA 三麥茶樓 三麥茶樓 is the first location of a new contemporary tea concept from the SUNMAI group, with a huge space inspired by Taiwanese tea gardens.

I only had time for a quick peek, but between the tea bar, tea cocktail wall, and full tea-focused food menu, this one is definitely going on my list to come back and try properly.

Powdered tea goes way beyond matcha. 🍵

I loved discovering 品 PIN THÉ SAVOR｜台灣磨茶專賣 in Taipei, where Taiwanese whole leaf teas are ground into fine powder and reimagined in a completely different format.

Since we also carry oolong tea powder at Mountain Tea, it was especially exciting to see a concept built around something that’s still rarely seen in U.S. cafés.

So much room for this category to grow!

Taipei keeps showing me how many different ways Taiwanese tea can be experienced!

Wangtea Lab x 有記 is one of the most interesting examples I’ve found - a modern concept from the century-old tea company 有記名茶 Wangtea 有記名茶, built around experimenting with roasting, blending, and different ways of brewing tea.

I especially love that the experimentation never takes the focus away from the tea itself.

Definitely one to add to your Taipei tea list!
