On Brantley Ridge Farm, we raise Pineywood Cattle and Gulf Coast Native Sheep.
Of the Pineywoods, we focus on a specific strain named the Holts. The Holts are endangered: only thirty remaining in the entire world. But, believe it or not, the Holts are the only cow native to Georgia!
Our Gulf Coast sheep are characters of their own. They seem to love all the space we give them right by our house, love visitors, and being on the cover of a fashion magazine. Oh, and their personalities are exceedingly photogenic: “rare” for sheep, one might say...
We give all of our cattle and sheep plenty of space, keeping our ratio at one animal per 3+ acres! Our animals are naturally raised on grass to suit their heritage, with plenty of shade in the pine trees during the hot summer days.
