Important native pollinator:
Milkweed Tussock Moth. I found its caterpillars on milkweed here at Prairie Haven Farm. Have you ever seen one of these? They look so odd, don’t they?
Doing some research, Google says this moth is a native pollinator. But don’t touch the caterpillar because its spines can irritate your skin.

My version of carbonara. Fresh veggies from garden: garlic scapes, basil, baby zucchini, kale, chili peppers; and our chicken eggs.

Hey there, lovely community. Checking in with those of you who bought a Petite Girl tomato plant from us. How’s she doing in your garden?
Any tomatoes yet?

I have 1 of this variety in my garden and I am truly shocked at how large she is already! Definitely NOT petite in stature, she’s outgrowing the surround I chose for her. 😂.
Next year I’ll have to use one of our 5-foot tall surrounds that I normally reserve for our Big Beefs. (Pictured as comparison)

My Petite Girl has some green tomatoes a bit smaller than a golf ball which is about as big as they’ll get. Looking forward to their tart, tomato flavor.

And, looking forward to hearing an update from you!

Garlic season, yay! This is our first picked. I like to pick one to start the harvest and honor it by having slivers of it mindfully and in gratitude throughout the day.

Unfortunately, half our crop was eaten by deer 🦌. So, we have none to sell this year 😢.
Deer are not supposed to like garlic nor cayenne. But, they eat both of these plants with delight.

Native pollinator came to visit.
Looks like a fly but folds its wings when sitting. Its thorax is green like my shorts ☺️

Anyone know its name? A SOLDIER FLY!!
