More progress. Kitchen garden on it's 2nd year has surpassed last year by huge amounts. We had plenty of mustard greens and radishes throughout the winter. Continued harvesting those plus peas through spring. I love volunteer plants! We pulled the last of the mustard last month and peas last week. I put in tomatoes(4 ft tall now), peppers zucchinis and pole beans late February. I have been harvesting zucchini and banana peppers for a few weeks now. Tomatoes have tons of fruits and I'm just waiting for them to ripen. The girls did a fun pumpkin project in April growing them right out of their Halloween pumpkins in a large bin with soil. They are doing beautifully. The pumpkin shells have broken down and we mulched them yesterday. We also added cucumber starts in our volunteer microgreens bed we also threw a bunch of wildflower seeds, carrots and beets in there. I call it my chaos row 😆 Last week we put in herb beds lavender, rosemary, thyme and oregano. I planted 3 kinds of mint with lemons in a mineral tub. I added chives at the end of the tomatoes. We have basil and marigolds in both the pepper and tomato beds that started from seed. The pepper bed also just sprouted a couple cucumber seeds. I have sunflowers opening everywhere and we planted watermelons yesterday. I have onions all over and some of the spring carrots and beets finally sprouted. I have more lavender, pineapple sage, strawberry plants, and 6 jalapenos going into my new mineral tub garden out front tomorrow. We have cantaloupe seeds started inside as well as plenty of basil, sage, oregano, thyme, rosemary, cumin and a new round of 🍅🥒🌶️ planted to put in the beds come fall. I also have honey fig cuttings I need to start and fresh turmeric rizomes. The greenhouse should be up in time to extend our season soon. Hoping to overwinter the avocado tree there. It's also doing well! To say I took on a lot this year is an understatement. But I'm doing my best to provide food for our large family. I will of course be starting plenty of cooler weather crops closer to fall. Wish me luck and if you read this far I appreciate you!
