Ever wondered about what goes into a green powder (the kind you add to your smoothies) and why they are so expensive?!!
One way I preserve kale, collards, and spinach greens, along with utilizing nutrient dense cabbage leaves is by making them into a green powder. After dehydrating, I grind them down in my nutribullet, blend them together and finally- jar the absolutely vitamin packed green powder they create to use in smoothies, stews, you name it!
It's amazing! I just dehydrated 2 bundles of kale that didn't sell at market. Each bundle is enough to make a good sized salad for 3-4 people and once processed, those two bundles turned into a mere two tablespoons of powder. That means that our smoothies only need one teaspoon of this delight added to get a full serving of greens! Each 3.5oz jar has over 50 servings!!!!
This is why when you see green powders for sale they are a little more pricey than you might have thought they would be. There are 12- 15 bundles of greens going into each one.
A little goes a long way here and green powders are a small mighty powerhouse!!!!
If you're interested, you can usually find a 3.5oz jar or two at my market booth priced or message to arrange a pickup. They are priced at $22.00 each π₯¬πΏπ
