Farmers since 1883

Growing up my favorite place on earth was my grandparent’s farm in Ayr North Dakota. I always loved being at the farm especially during harvest. Riding in the combine with my grandfather or truck with my aunt are warm memories. My favorite activity was helping my grandfather with the cattle, he had a good size herd of Herefords.

There was a great deal of pride surrounding the family farm, it was homesteaded by my grandfathers grandfather in 1883. Being a centennial farm was always a great sense of pride for the family which significantly impact me as well. It taught me the importance of hard work and to keep pressing on when things didn’t turn out as hoped. I believe growing up around farming had a significant influence on my life.

In 2010 during the recession a bank owned hobby farm came up for sale at a substantially reduced price. At the time my wife and I felt like it was meant to be so we took the leap, over the past nine years we have developed many great memories at the farm. Hosting barn parties, youth groups, missionaries and family. The farm gave us extra space for our parents when they needed it and place to gather as a family. Today we grow pumpkins and raise purebred Dexter cattle. We also have chickens and an occasional goat.
