It's that perfect time of year when the summer crops (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans) are still kickin' and the fall crops (kale, collards, bok choy, mustard greens) are starting to come in 👌We'll have all of the above (& more!) available tonight at our farm stand from 4-7pm. Every Tues until the end of October, in the warehouse building next to the farm!
As always, we'll be wearing masks and social distancing, and you should too! 😷🍅🥬

She sure has been keeping us on our toes with these March-like temps and gale force winds, but we love her all the same. IT'S FREAKIN COLD OUT HERE!! At least the weather has been matching my emotions lately 🤷♀️

If we've learned anything over the past several weeks it's that our actions don't happen in a vacuum. What we do, say, feel, how we act- it matters & has an impact. The way we treat our planet here is felt around the globe. So be kind to yourself, to others, and especially to our planet- today and everyday! It's the only home we've got, and it's pretty darn special 🌎❤️ #gobills
❄️Lots of people ask us, “What do you do over the winter months?”❄️
The long answer is: We prepare for the upcoming season through careful planning. We leaf through seed catalogs for varieties of veggies that will work well for us and our soil. We write grants, sign up CSA members, update our website, harvest greens in the high tunnel & manage snow. We crunch numbers and see what’s working and what’s not, and we order new supplies.
And, of course- we REST, catch up with family & friends, cross country ski, maybe take a trip. Though we are no longer working in the field, we are definitely keeping ourselves busy!
We understand that for many, winter in Buffalo is long and unbearable, but for us it’s a necessary & important time of year- & it always flies by! We’ll be putting seeds in the ground again before we know it, our seed catalogs just started arriving last week.
The short answer is: THIS. Soaking up the quiet of our fields at rest, & playing fetch with Pancho while he enjoys this new phenomenon called snow. 🐾♥️

Our teeniest (and dare I say, cutest!) CSA member took a trip to mailbox to send off their check.
With that, our CSA has officially SOLD OUT! We’re so grateful to all of our members, both old and new, and we’re looking forward to a bountiful season ahead!

Good morning from the lettuce and me! 🌱👋 Sorry we’ve been a bit MIA but ever since the weather turned nice we have not stopped go-go-going! We promise to try and be better about remembering to snap some pics so we don’t keep you in the dark. In the past few weeks we’ve planted- arugula, spinach, tatsoi, mustard greens, lettuce, radish, turnip, beets, carrots, cabbage, kale, broccolini, kohlrabi, chard, collards, leeks, shelling and snap peas, potted up over 800 eggplant and pepper seedlings and and even built raised beds for over 500 new asparagus, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry transplants. We’ve been very busy! Spring came way too late this year but we can’t rush nature, right?! Now we’ve just got to rush ourselves. Thanks 4 your patience with us - the plants appreciate it !! 💚

Harvesting eggplant today, I found this praying mantis happily nibbling off the head of a mason bee. While I wish it had been some other pest doing damage in the garden, and not one of the pollinators, it still was quite something to watch.
