Wilson Street Urban Farm

Wilson Street Urban Farm Wilson Street Urban Farm is a family-operated urban garden. Our goal is to make fresh, local, naturally-grown produce readily available to Buffalo's East side.

The farm consists of 60-some raised beds, 1 large hoop house, an herb garden, and an open field in the process of being remediated into fertile soil. There is open community space built into the lay-out. Each year it grows and changes as our resources grow and change.

Dog Days of Summer Stand

Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer! And we even have weather to match the label. Not my favorite weather, but good for the crops we have come to expect in August. Come to the stand to find your heirloom tomatoes, various eggplants, green beans, yellow squash, zucchini, onions, a few more cucumbers before the plants die, leeks, garlic, and more. We are open today, Saturday, from 10 until 2, or until we are sold out. See you on the farm! Janice

Farm Stand Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Saturday - our usual stand day. It is also the East Side Garden Walk. It is also supposed to rain significantly. If it is not pouring when we are supposed to set up, usually 9:30 or so, we'll be out there greeting people and selling tomatoes, onions, garlic, cucumbers, cabbage, leeks, squash. If it's raining at set-up time, you might want to wait until the rain stops before coming over. If there is a break in the rain in the morning, we'll see you there.

Growing food for a population of 7.5 billion people is a job. In Buffalo we have several Urban Farms, Growers, and sustainable farms that grow food. Listen to these stories. Be inspired. AND start gowing people!!!

Urban farms help to increase the access to fresh, local food to folks who normally would not have access to fresh foods. Why do people not have access? Transportation needs. No grocery store near their home. Can't afford it. Urban farms play a big role in today's Agriculture. Wilson Street Urban Farm shares their story with us today.

WD Henry & Sons grows produce and supplies the northeast with fresh produce. Since 1888 they have grown a variety of crops, for wholesale throughout the northeast.

North America has lost nearly three billion birds since 1970. That’s more than a quarter of the entire bird population. According to a new study published in “Science,” there are many steep continental declines, including 166 million birds lost in Eastern forests.

Pennsylvania is home to 8 percent of the global population of wood thrush. Across North America, the wood thrush has declined by nearly 50 percent since 1970. But there is hope! At www.3BillionBirds.org, there are seven simple actions the public can take to help birds.

Late Wednesday evening, Nov 28th 2018, one of our local CSA’s, Native Offerings Farm had a devastating fire. Their beautiful 1900’s barn, 1980’s wash house, storage cooler and storage room, germination room, 6 out of 7 tractors, most of the tools and equipment, and 80% of their winter storage ...

Native Offerings Farm

Sad to say that our main barn built in 1900 and the wash house built in the 80’s burned down Wednesday evening. 15 years of improvements and most of our farm equipment acquired over a 25 year period was lost. Gone also are most of our storage crops. We lost 6 tractors. Insurance will help rebuild the barn and replace three of the tractors and it will provide funds to purchase lost crops so we can continue our farm share program. Most of what was destroyed in the barn will be a total loss for us. So after 25 years of farming we are tasked with starting over again.
We are thankful nobody was hurt and that the fire departments of Otto, East Otto, Mansfield, Cattaraugus and Ellicottville responded quickly and were able to prevent the fire from totally destroying our newly built addition to the barn which is our food safety clean room. We are also thankful for the support we have received from our community.
