🌿🫖 Fun Fact Friday 🫖🌿

Did you know some tea plants actually need a little shade?

Premium Japanese teas like Matcha and Gyokuro are traditionally covered with nets or mats before harvesting. This shading process boosts chlorophyll production and helps create their distinctive flavor while reducing bitterness.

We don’t make teas this way ourselves—we’re not as well versed in the cultural traditions and techniques behind these teas, and we believe in respecting the expertise that goes into them so we only enjoy personally due to lack of the proper tools and knowledge.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

One of our Tea Masters grew up in New York City, making this day especially close to our hearts.

We invite you to join us in a moment of silence for those we lost on 9/11, and for all those lost to senseless violence involving the United States since.

May we remember. May we honor. May we choose compassion.

🪵🫖 Wandering Wares Wednesday 🫖🪵

We have a brand-new wooden piece joining our tea party collection, and it’s as practical as it is beautiful!

This little rotating serving piece has a spot for spreads, honey, and other tea-time goodies, with a drawer underneath that holds cheese knives for easy serving.

But our favorite part? It was custom wood-burned by Jodi, Nevada’s mom!

We love when our tea wares have a little story of their own—and this one has family, creativity, and plenty of tea party potential built right in.

We can’t wait to put it to work at our next tea party!

🧙‍♀️🫖 Behind the Blend: Market Prep 🫖🧙‍♀️

Market prep has been a labor of love over here! For the Witching Harvest Market, we blended a whopping 22 different teas and taste-tested every single one over the course of several days to make sure each blend was just right.

Our Blind Tea Dates with a Book have been getting some serious attention too! One of our Tea Masters read most of the books, for our 16 different packages, taking notes along the way to help create teas that truly fit each story. For the few she didn’t finish, our amazing friends who had read them stepped in with their insights and helped us bring those teas to life.

That’s a LOT of tea, a LOT of books, and a whole lot of love poured into getting ready for this market. We’re so excited to finally share all of our hard work, creativity, and passion with you at the Witching Harvest Market at Black Sheep Market! Come see what we’ve been brewing.

Today is for resting, recharging, and enjoying a well-earned break. So if you can, put down the to-do list, step away from the work, and pour yourself a good cup of tea.

Whether you’re curled up with a book, spending time with loved ones, enjoying the last bits of summer, or simply doing absolutely nothing—we hope you give yourself permission to rest today.

Autumn Apothecary starts with a rich Earl Grey black tea and combines pumpkin, rosemary, calendula, ginger root, cardamom, and vanilla.
