The lack of healthy foods in what have been called “urban food deserts” is well documented. Just as Jesus’ first followers looked at the hungry

masses and humbly offered five loaves of bread and two fish to feed them, we too respond with compassion by bringing our five city lots and two community gardens to feed the hungry. Our spiritual convictions, along with our neighborhood’s vacant land and eager youth, provide the fertile soil needed for this initiative to grow to meet the need.

5 Loaves Farm... ..plants gardens and creates green houses to grow healthy foods...is committed to making healthy foods available and affordable to our neighbors by offering a CSA and seeking to partner with local markets and school lunch programs...donates a portion of its produce to local soup kitchens...is committed to using sustainable growing practices...provides educational programs for adults and school groups..has internship opportunities available for neighborhood youth throughout the year.

🌱 Contemplation & Cultivation is back on Saturday May 23rd!

From 10AM–1PM on the farm, join us for a monthly time of reflection and shared farm work from May through October. This volunteer group begins with an hour of reflection—tuning into what's around, within, and between us—followed by work together on the farm.

No sign-up needed. Show-up, for the whole time or just a part, and we'll provide gloves, tools, and sunscreen. ☀️

We love Nickel City Floral! Check out her upcoming class at the 5 Loaves Farmhouse on May 30 🌸

The flower class that will change your life — or at least your relationship with flowers! This class will help you have more joy and confidence in handling flowers, and on top of that, it’s a ton of fun! Friends who have taken this class love to send me pictures of flower arrangements they’ve made.

After this class, whether you’re working from flowers you’ve picked in your own backyard, or bouquets you brought home the farmer’s market or the store, you’ll have the skills to make your own stunning arrangements.

When you sign up with a group, you get a discount, so tag a friend or share this with the person you want to come with you! 👯👯‍♀️👯‍♂️

Join us on Saturday, April 18 from 10–12pm for the annual Earth Day Community Clean-Up. There’s no need to sign up. Just show up at 5 Loaves Farm (70 W Delavan), and we’ll have all the clean-up supplies you need! 🧡
