There are still a some loose cases of Cider Cask and 12 YR Tennessee Whiskey, but we’re closing early due to the severe weather. Please call us this week if you’d like something. We’ll be at the facility Monday but closing early for the Bills game.

Tommyrotter Distillery has announced that it will be closing its production facility located at 500 Seneca St. on January 31st, 2024 and conclude production of bourbons and whiskeys. The distillery’s popular Tommyrotter gin products will continue to be available for sale, but produced at another location.

To close out existing brown spirits inventory, the distillery will be hosting a “warehouse sale” on Saturday, January 13th from 12 PM – 5 PM. The following products will be available at 30% off bottles and 50% off 6-pack cases.

Here is the backstory behind our special release. The is the last barrel of Tommyrotter's old George Dickel stock. This is a 12 Y/O Tennessee Whiskey that has a bit of interesting history to it. 12 years ago, when there was an oak barrel shortage as bourbon boomed, Diageo bought a bunch of used bourbon barrels, popped the heads off and cut out all the char on the staves so that the barrel interiors looked like fresh oak. They re-charred the barrels, filled them and then began a lobbying effort to get the TTB to approve that this product could be considered a bourbon since the barrels were like-new and charred again. The TTB did not approve this and the barrels were released on the secondary market.
The lot of barrels that we sourced our barrels from were aged in the re-charred method explained above. The original cooperage was gathered from Heaven Hill and Four Roses. After aging for a few years in Tullahoma, TN, they traveled to the bonded warehouse of Terresentia Corp in Ladson, SC. If that name sounds unfamiliar, it's the Terressentia that purchased the Charles Medley Distillery in Owensboro, KY and then they reopened it as the O.Z. Tyler Distillery....and then changed its name to Green River Distilling....which is now owned by Bardstown Bourbon Co. We took physical possession of the barrels about 5 years back when the South Carolina bonded warehouse was being emptied and all barrels were moving to the KY rickhouses. These barrels toured the south a bit before landing in Buffalo.

Just a sneak peak of a new limited bourbon release that will be out in early December. Only 40 cases available. It's a 12 year bourbon with a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley. Bottled at cask strength, this barrel proof bourbon is delicious. Look for future announcements on where you can buy.

A Tommyrotter knows that you can't follow the crowd and stand out at the same time. That being said, we just received two exotic barrels made from Brazilian Amburana and Brazilian Jackfruit. The distillery has an amazing new smell thanks to these barrels. Can't wait to get these filled with our Bourbon. Should we go with an 8-year old high rye or a 6-year old high wheat bourbon?
