Onsen Farm

Onsen Farm With 130 degree geothermal artesian water we are able to grow produce all winter in our 5 high tunnel greenhouses.

We grow both organically in the soil and with aquaponics. We service a 49 member winter CSA, sell online through Idaho's Bounty, and take care of a number of restaurants and boutique grocers. We also host workshops focusing on Permaculture, aquaponics, and organic gardening with a "Hands On" approach. We are jenkstars at heart, and build and operate with as much reclaimed and upcycled materials as

possible. Firm believers in regenerative hedonism, we believe it is possible to be beneficial to our local ecosystems while having one hell of a good time in the process.

ROSEMARY 🌿 (Rosmarinus officinalis) for a cold/depressed tissue state.
Probably found in every kitchen in the western world and because it’s regarded as a common spice used in culinary applications it is easy to overlook it as an important medicine. Not just to be used in your roasted potatoes, Rosemary has an extremely wide variety of applications and uses as an herbal medicine.
We can consider Rosemary to be one of our polycrest remedies, meaning that it has a very wide range of uses in the treatment of human disease, physical, and psycho-spiritual imbalances. Rosemary has so much versatility and should be well stocked in everyone’s home medicine chest and in your herbal materia medica “toolbox.”
The predominant flavor of Rosemary is it’s pungent, aromatic nature, which indicates the presence of essential oils. In general, the pungent taste indicates a plant that is warming and stimulating, and most oftentimes drying- which is further exemplified by it’s slight astringency. Aromatic plants oftentimes stimulate digestion, warm the circulation, distribute the blood, alleviate stagnation, and open up and drive the blood throughout the system.
Due to Rosemary’s predominant warming and stimulant energetic profile, we see that it is best used in the treatment of the cold/depression tissue state.
But wait... what is Cold/Depression?
Cold Depression is marked by a decrease in organ function, essentially a relative state of inactivity and lack of stimulation. This tissue state naturally manifests differently from organ to organ, but in general we will see that the function of that particular part of the body is not operating up to par.
The stomach and intestines become cold, weak, deficient in their secretions, and unable to break down food as well- which can lead to undigested food in the stool, bad breath, constipation, gas, bloating, nausea and other GI symptoms. These would all be manifestations of the cold/depression tissue state in the core of the body- all of which Rosemary are specific for!
There can also be poor circulation out to the rest of the system, resulting in cold hands and feet, and an overall sluggish disposition. The mind can become quite hazy and cloudy, with an inability to think clearly- as if there are “cobwebs in the brain.” Rosemary is great to stimulate circulation to the periphery, clear away a foggy brain and even stimulate and maintain good memory! 🤩
In this way Rosemary helps to clear that stagnation out of the body and the mind so someone who is feeling down and out can be uplifted and strengthened again.
Thank you Rosemary! 🙏
