🐷 How Our Pigs Are Raised 🐷

We believe pigs should be allowed to be pigs.
Our pigs are raised outdoors with room to roam, root, wallow, and explore. They spend their days in fresh air and sunshine instead of being confined to concrete barns. They have access to shelter, clean water, and plenty of space to express their natural behaviors.
Our herd consists of Hampshire, Hereford, and Mangalitsa crosses, combining excellent growth, hardiness, and flavor. We will also be adding Duroc genetics to our breeding program as we continue improving our herd.

Our pigs are fed a balanced ration consisting of corn, distillers grains, soybean meal, and minerals to support healthy growth and development. Combined with plenty of fresh air and room to be pigs, this produces healthy animals and quality pork.
We focus on sound genetics, low-stress handling, and raising pigs that perform well both in the pasture and on the plate.

Whether you're filling your freezer, looking for breeding stock, or wanting to know exactly where your food comes from, we've got you covered.
We currently offer:
🥓 Retail pork cuts
📦 Pork box deals
🐖 Whole hogs
🐖 Half hogs
🐷 Weaned piglets
🐷 Breeding boars and gilts
🐷 Proven breeders and exposed sows

💥 We're simplifying our freezer pork pricing! 💥

✔️ Half Hog (processing included) — $500

What’s Really in Your Grocery Store Food—and How It Affects Your Body

Every time we walk down the aisles of a grocery store, we’re faced with a dizzying array of choices: packaged meats, frozen meals, snack foods, and colorful fruits and vegetables. While the convenience is undeniable, what often goes unnoticed are the hidden substances in these foods—growth hormones, preservatives, and other additives—that can quietly affect our health over time.

Growth Hormones in Meat and Dairy
Many conventionally raised livestock—cattle, chickens, and pigs—are given growth hormones to increase size and speed up production. These hormones, such as rBST (recombinant bovine somatotropin) in cows, are intended to boost milk production and growth rates.

How they affect the body:
Hormonal disruption: Consuming meat and dairy with residual growth hormones can interfere with our own endocrine system. This may contribute to early puberty in children, fertility issues, and hormonal imbalances.

Cancer risk: Some studies suggest a link between long-term consumption of hormone-treated meats and certain hormone-sensitive cancers, including breast and prostate cancer.

Metabolic effects: Hormones in food may influence insulin regulation and fat storage, potentially contributing to obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Preservatives and Additives
To make food last longer on shelves, manufacturers add chemical preservatives—like nitrates, sulfites, BHA, and BHT. These chemicals prevent spoilage and maintain color and texture but can come at a cost.

Impact on the body:
Digestive stress: Some preservatives can irritate the gut lining, leading to bloating, discomfort, or worsening gut dysbiosis (an imbalance in gut bacteria).

Inflammation: Chronic exposure to certain additives is linked to low-grade inflammation, which plays a role in heart disease, arthritis, and other chronic conditions.

Potential carcinogens: Nitrates and nitrites in processed meats can form nitrosamines in the body, compounds that have been associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer.

Hidden Sugars, Salt, and Unhealthy Fats
Even beyond hormones and preservatives, grocery store foods are often loaded with hidden sugars, refined grains, and processed fats. These ingredients can spike blood sugar, increase insulin demand, and contribute to chronic inflammation. Over time, this combination is a major driver of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

The Cumulative Effect
It’s not just one hamburger or one slice of processed cheese—our bodies are exposed daily to a cocktail of hormones, preservatives, and processed ingredients.

The cumulative effect may include:
Hormonal imbalances
Increased risk of certain cancers
Digestive disorders
Weight gain and metabolic dysfunction
Chronic inflammation

Steps to Protect Yourself
While it’s nearly impossible to eliminate all additives from your diet, there are practical steps to reduce your exposure:

Choose organic or hormone-free meat and dairy whenever possible.
Limit processed and pre-packaged foods; focus on whole foods like vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains.
Read labels carefully to avoid unnecessary preservatives and additives.
Cook at home more often—this gives you full control over what goes into your meals.
Support local farms where animals are raised naturally, without growth hormones or unnecessary antibiotics.
Bottom Line
The convenience of grocery store food comes with hidden consequences. Growth hormones, preservatives, and additives may not cause immediate symptoms, but over time, they can disrupt our hormones, increase inflammation, and contribute to chronic diseases. Being mindful of what we eat, choosing whole and minimally processed foods, and supporting safer farming practices can help protect our bodies and future health.

🤦🏻‍♀️ And for God's sake pork is red like beef not pale pink like in the grocery store.

Anyone looking for bulk quality food should check out Azure standard. The orders come in on semi trucks and you pick up from a drop locations near you. We have done this several times and we are about to send in for a June order. We have gotten seasonings oatmeal, honey, flour, cheese, fruit, dried beans and my 17yo's favorite yeast by the pound. Most is organic. If your big on organic I definitely recommend checking them out and even if you just like a good price on bulk they are awesome. Ill include a link for you as well.

Eggs will be limited this week as we apparently have several broody hens. So we may actually have some chicks soon. We are not planning to sell the hatched ones BUT if we end up with an enormous amount we may lol yall know how quickly things on the farm grow in population. If it didn't we would have close to 20 goats, 40 pigs and I honestly have no idea on how many chickens we have. I think we have 5 turkeys and 5 ducks (one ran off with the wild ducks)

We do still have 2 females and 1 male pup looking for their new jobs. They are working dogs lived with the goats all their lives and been exposed to grown poultry... not sure on the younger poultry yet. As we haven't had younger ones.
