This isn’t an easy post to make, but it’s time for us to downsize a bit to bring in some new genetics here on the farm. That being said, a few of our animals are now available and open for discussion.

• Several piglets up for reservation (to leave in approximately 6 weeks)
• A 3-year-old Berkshire boar, proven breeder
• A Berkshire breeding pair (boar and gilt)
• Several rabbits (bucks and does)

All are healthy, well cared for, and have been raised right here on the farm. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, just message me. I’m happy to share details. More photos are coming!

We missed yet another delivery! Paisley Mae delivered 9 beautiful babies sometime between checks on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately 2 were found to be smothered by momma and did not survive but the remaining 7 seem to be doing well and are very active. They are even swapping places with their roommates next door and both mommas are taking the responsibilities of raising their village well and letting all nurse regardless of whom belongs to whom! Again, reservations for these beautiful babies will begin in approximately two weeks!

Some time between yesterday evening’s feeding and this morning’s check in Miss Sassy released her hostages! Welcome to her sweet seven who will be available for reservation in approximately two weeks.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America!

From all of us here at Southern Roots Farm, we’re wishing our amazing community a safe, cool, and joyful Independence Day. This heat is no joke, so take care of yourselves out there today!

Farm chores were wrapped up early this morning, but we’ll be monitoring water and shade throughout the day to make sure every animal stays comfortable. Troughs and waterers will stay full, cool, and clean — and we’ll be keeping a close eye on everyone this evening as fireworks and gunshots can cause stress for livestock and pets. 🧨

If you’re heading out to enjoy fireworks tonight, have a wonderful time and soak up the celebration for us. 🎆🎇
We’ll be here on the farm holding down the fort, keeping the animals calm and making sure they get through the noise and heat safely.
