To squash any rumors out there…
Earlier this year, we decided to take a different approach with our Yorkshire gilt crop.
We’ve grown tremendously in numbers, and we felt it was time to shift our focus from how many to how good.
We offered every Yorkshire gilt out of our Winter 2025 crop for sale, with the exception of two gilts out of the Shoup sow — the mother of He’s Back.
The plan was simple: sell the majority of the crop,and then, in the summer of 2026, buy back only the very best few allowing those families reap profit from our genetics.
We knew going into it that we’d likely spend more buying them back than what we sold them for. But we believed in the plan — fewer keeper gilts, higher quality, and the opportunity to put some good females into the hands of great families.
Then we saw Craig show Dolly at Indy.
And pretty quickly, our list of gilts we planned to buy back took a drastic hit…
Because there was one we knew we had to have back home.
DOLLY
Dolly is a gilt we believe can have a major impact on our Yorkshire program. Building around her and her offspring is a big part of continuing our reputation of elite Yorkshire’s at WILLSON SHOWPIGS.
