Reality is a difficult thing to face, and it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Opa. His smile, warm spirit, and delicious baked goods brought comfort, joy, and a sense of nostalgia to countless members of our community in Burgaw.
Our hearts are broken as we enter an unknown world without him by our side. As his daughter, he was my hero—a man truly worthy of admiration, a light amid the darkness and chaos of the world. I will forever think of you, Dad, and all the goodness you brought into our lives.
When you married Mom-Mimi 19 years ago, you chose to become our father and our best friend. You didn’t have to, but you embraced us with unconditional love and gave us countless memories that we will cherish forever. Your kindness, guidance, and presence shaped our lives in ways words can never fully express.
We would also like to thank all of our customers and friends over the years who helped create such a special and magical place. The memories shared, the conversations had, and the sense of community built around Opa’s baking will remain with us always.
Though we will miss him deeply, we find comfort in the joy he brought to so many lives and in the legacy of love, friendship, and community he leaves behind.
And just as Opa would always say:
