I’m loving how these shined up once I got them in the ground. Since this is the first set I’ve ever owned, I don’t know what the best thing to apply to to them is once they get put up at the end of the season to keep them in good shape. Any pointers?

A few seasons ago you couldn’t walk across most of this. It was swampy and most of the area in the second picture was cattails. Every other inch of this was covered in six foot weeds and brush. It took a lot of work to clear and a couple ditches to channel/divert the water. I’ve been hitting this a bit at a time after I get home from work this week. I’m really happy to be turning this ground over to get ready to plant.

The little 2-bottom plow is working pretty well. Takes a bit of time, but should have this field turned over through the next couple evenings. I’m certainly not proficient yet and wished it turned over a little more. Any tips on that?

Today it dawned on me to use the loader on the tractor to dig the trenches for our potatoes. Not sure why I never thought of it before. Usually would do it by hand and wear my back out. Lol, not this time. Going to be planting spuds tomorrow after work. Same as last year, 50lb sack of each. Kennebec white, Pontiac red, and Yukon gold.

Slapped together some trellis out of the stack of bamboo stakes and planted about 80 feet of sugar peas. I know they’re late but we should be good to go!

They might look like little sticks, but these are hazelnut bushes. We got half a dozen planted. Made sure to throw in some compost from the 2-year pile. Hopefully these take well. They’re only supposed to take a couple seasons before they start producing.

After a horrible cold, wet spring and rain on every opportunity I’ve had to do anything, We got potatoes planted!! 50 pounds of Pontiac reds and 50 pounds of Yukon golds. I even managed to leave a little dirt for hilling them up this time. Tomorrow after work we’ll get the Kennebec whites in. Woot!

We made a butterfly!
A few days before the flood my son and I found a monarch caterpillar in the lower field. We picked some milkweed and put it with him in a little terrarium in the house. It ate for the rest of the day and started changing the next day. Today it emerged.

Thank you to everyone sending well wishes and prayers. I feel a little shameful having to resort to asking for help, but we are in a spot where we don't have a lot of options. We set up a Go Fund Me account today. Honestly not expecting anything, but every little bit would help. Thanks again.
